Cool Summer Trends!

Posted on 4/11/2018

Summer might be a jovial season in the West, but in a country like Kuwait having summer is not that happy a thought. Hot scorching sun and gushes of dry hot wind can literally make you feel you are in an oven. Whatever may come your way, you have to take it and beat it down with your creativity and attitude, after all that’s what life is all about, and it is absolutely important to keep yourself healthy and happy during the summer. So why wait let us get ready to beat this summer heat to shame.

First things first

All of us know, keep it cool is the key word to beat any summer heat, though everyone might know it let’s take a quick glance through the very basic cool tips.
Drinking lots of water:-Get that water meter monitored, keep your bottles of water marked and make it a point to drink minimum 6 – 8 glasses of water per day.
Fruits and veggies:- Add more fruits and vegetables to keep the body cool, minimize the amount of non-veg intake especially chicken as it’s a heat generating food. Some other body heating foods are pepper, mustard and dates.

Protect yourselves:-You can’t keep indoors all the while even if it is scorching heat outside. We need to go to work, which might include moving around in open sun. Keep away as much as you can from direct sun in Kuwait. As there are fewer clouds and trees to block the sunlight, the sun rays are pretty much sharp here, wearing a cap or a scarf is a good idea. Use a good sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful radiation. Using sunscreen while going out, using shades to protect yourself all does really help for sure.

Carry yourself Cool-Summer Fashion!

All must have been said and heard about how to beat summer; therefore we can discuss a different topic here, summer fashion and trends. I would like to point out first and foremost that, as in everything, it is the ‘attitude’ that matters most in fashion too. The way you carry yourselves is how you look, be happy, confident and jovial inside, and it will reflect outside too.

Begin fresh:- As a good start begin every morning with a smile, do a little bit of stretching or yoga to keep your systems intact. Dab some sunscreen and moisturizer on that still moist skin after your morning shower, and seal it...Lo, you are ready to face the world.

Dressing up :- Kuwait is a place where people really do care how you dress to evaluate you. Indians are most often criticized for their dressing sense publically and privately, mainly because we pay less attention to the ‘in’ things and the right things. Wear the right dress suitable and comfortable for you and which suits the season and situation. You should be confident in whatever you wear, that’s the key!

Summer dress should be light materials in light pastel hues and shades. You should select loose fitting dresses in cotton or any other cool fabric. Tight dresses and thick materials are good to give you a heat stroke! Floral patterns add to the general attitude of the season making it more jovial inside out. As Kuwait is generally dry and very hot and rather empty, lacking that greenery during summer, a floral dress can add a little happiness to you and the crowd that carries you too.
Trendy colours of 2018 summer:

In the international arena, lilac is back in full glory this summer, teal green, dull sea green, mint green along with oyster pink and peach rule the show for sure this summer .Electric blue is in among the blues and light sea blue. Mustard, tangerine and marigold seem to head the yellow palette. Brick, blush and coral are the red shades in trend. In Bollywood fashion monochromes seem to run big this year too, sticking to the natural palette, with black & white, grey and skin neutral colours.

2018 Summer Styles:-

Casual and comfy is the trend in summer, Blue denim and white is a classic summer combination, which can never go out! Ruffles are trendy this year, add that ruffles anywhere….on off-shoulders, top / skirt hems or on your sleeves! Under dressing is the new dressing down in Bollywood. Internationally sequins are in fashion from Paris shows, but here in Kuwait it will seem a bit odd under hot sun, unless you are attending a night indoor party. Wear that glitter on the shoes or heels, and you can reach out to that international look! Multiple bags and asymmetrical earrings are coming up as new trends this year, summer is not different. Vintage patterns, gypsy skirts and Stripes are also trending this summer.

How in Kuwait?

In Kuwait offices and buildings are turned super cool while outside it would be burning hot. It’s hard to dress totally summer style due to this, sometimes it even feels like you need to keep a winter jacket inside your office. Above all, at times humidity checks in creating a totally different climatic situation. Take care of your health and wellness along with style in these switching climatic conditions. Key is to keep it light and airy but covering.

Less dress is not the key in Kuwait during summer, it is better to cover yourself up while you walk in sun, use some cool shades, hats or caps or even scarves to protect your face and head. Use full or three fourth sleeved outfits to protect your hands. If you don’t want to use sleeves, you can go for capes, ponchos or shrugs to cover those hands while walking in sun, so that you can remove it once out of the sun. Scarves and stalls are good for this, as it serves multiple purposes. Light casual straight pants with a light pastel coloured linen top or a long ruffles skirt with a light floral print and mint coloured top would look great for work.
For casual outings, a floral printed long or short dress, a bohemian harem pants in bright colours or gypsy skirts with a white/light top would look great, so be trendy , be healthy keep enjoying this summer too!
So wish you all a trendy fashionable summer 2018.
