The Malayalam cinema has truly arrived with Lal Jose who employs a unique method to narrate stories in each of his movies. In Diamond Necklace again, the director brings a `not so common` topic to fore and does complete justice to the plot.
Lal Jose and actor Fahad Fazil have shown in the past that they are new age director and actor, respectively. The two have once again proved that with this film. The Diamond Necklace more than makes up for the lack of big names with its strong theme and brilliant direction.
Diamond Necklace like all of Lal Jose` previous venture is a youthful and romantic film with some melodious songs and enriching moments. Script by Iqbal Kuttipuram is excellent as he has made sure not to give away the `flavour` of Lal Jose` movies.
Story
Dr Arjun (Fahad Fazil) is a young oncologist who lives in a posh apartment in the world`s biggest and expensive building in Dubai, Burg Khalifa. Because of his lavish lifestyle and spendthrift attitude, Dr Arjun gets into a huge debt with credit card companies. Over the period that he lives in Dubai and in Kerala, Dr Arjun`s life gets completely intertwined by the three women who enter his life. Somehow, a very expensive diamond necklace makes him realise the finer aspects of his life.
Performances
Fahad Fazil is outstanding as usual. He has done similar roles before and this is just another feather in his cap! Samvrutha Sunil and Gowthami Nair are fine actresses and they have proved that once again with the Diamond Necklace. Anushree, in her debut film seems very promising. All other actors have given a decent performance.
Diamond Necklace is definitely worth a watch.
