Case
Its better to attend the case...1st time it may not be a problem...If you dont attend court after that court may grant maintenance favorable to her...

just my thoughts
Question not quite clear. Has your wife filed for divorce/ separation. Or does she want to continue to be your wife but wants to get proper maintenance for her & children. IF you are already divorced, she is not longer your wife, she is ex-wife.
50k may seem to be a large sum, but considering the present expenses, it may be required considering the children''''s education & other expenses. It depends on how much you are earning. I have an inkling that you earn well but are too stingy to spend it on your family.
If she has filed for divorce and is asking for alimony, the process is going to take a while. You can give the case to a lawyer, who will be able to fight it on your behalf. You may have to make an appearance in court, but the lawyer can always request it to be shifted to a date convenient to you, considering that you work overseas.
