Please don't approach consultants. They're big cheats. I'm going to narrate my experience. It's a long post, but might help someone. One company in city I approached had advertised that they guarantee jobs and that no money will be collected from us, with the exception of a one-time, fixed registration fee. I submitted my CV. Confirmed with secretary before paying if any other charges, because many consultants take either first or first two salaries. She confirmed that no extra charges. I paid money and then met the main guy who arranges for interviews. The guy then told me it's very difficult to get jobs now (I'm an experienced engineer with over 10 years experience). He said that they take one month's salary. I protested. He then said that's how they can continue their business and make money. He said he would get back to me in 3 days time as he was extremely busy with some other work. 3 days later no call. Waited for another two days and then finally called them. He said they will call me the next week. The following week too, no call from them. So I went and personally visited them and then he made a big show, that he sent my CV (non-relevant job with extremely low pay) I told him to send it to a relevant job, something pertaining to my field of expertise. He again said they'd call me back. After about 1-2 months of no news from them, I landed up a job on my own. Went to their office and collected my cash back. I told him you guys are not fit to be called a job consultant agency.
