French or Hindi

Can anyone connected to cbse school throw some tight on the CBSE recent circular regarding Hindi being compulsary in school?
My child has been studying french since 1st grade and is now in 7th grade and schools are not ready to tell anything about this issue. I hope the school are not mum because they want to buy time to search hindi teachers/ terminate french teachers and get the stock of french books sold. I hope children are not being used. Kindly advise if it is better to change to hindi in this academic year.
thanks in advance

Dear For your information, CBSE ( Central Board of Secondary Education) have their syllabus starting form STD 9 only. From LKG till 8th STD the syllabus are chosen by the school authority as per the more commission from which publication give. CBSE is thinking to make Hindi as a compulsory language, but not yet taken a decision. They may implement it from the coming academic year starting in India on June. That is the reason here the schools are keep mum. I have changed for my children to Hindi as they are entering to 9th STD. Even learning French in practical life no use unless you are plan to settle in European countries. But if you know Hindi in India you can travel and settle any place. Just think and take a wise decision. This is commission and money making business by the publishers. We are poor parents.

Hindi or French or Arabic, Schools are not giving any importance on verbal communication.
Like Sa said, learning Hindi is good in many aspects, but why they have to make it so complicated by bringing in heavy grammar and so on. If the kid has inclination to continue study the language further, one can do it in degree level. Make Hindi syllabus far simpler and give importance on spoken hindi.

CBSE can even think of two flavor of Hindi. One for native speakers and other for non-natives ones. Let them feed current Hindi syllabus to native Hindi speakers and lighter Hindi for non-natives.
