Blessen George Memorial International Volleyball Tournament begins here with great enthusiasm. In the first match, Nepal Sixers won defeating Salmiya Friends (2-1). Semi Finals will be played today (Friday) at Indian Central School, Abbasiya. Nepal Sixers will play against Calicut Sports in the first semi final and Al Ashrafia will play against Reggae Sports in the Second Semifinal. The match will begin at 5:30 pm on Friday.
Earlier, Sri Thomas Chandy MLA inaugurated the tournament. Former Kerala State, University and Indian Players Mani C Kappan, Dr George Mathew and Sebastian George, who is also the brother of famous Indian volleyball player Gimmy George felicitated the function. Tournament Convener Benny Pathanamthitta welcomed the audience and Blessen George Foundation Chairman Omman George president the function. Pathanamtitta Catholicate College Professor Smt Valsamma and Babu Parayl also gave felicitation speeches.
Blessen George Memorial Volleyball Tournament is organized by Kuwait’s Blessen George Foundation in memory of late Blessen George, who was the best all-rounder of his time in India in the volleyball game.
Volleyball was once the most played and watched Game in India apart from Football. The final will be held on Saturday at 5:30 pm on the same venue
