Memory Management techniques should be taught in school level: Memory guru Dr Biswaroop
Posted on 4/25/2012
After the first ever Super memory seminar on “How to Double your Memory” held in Kuwait last January, Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury will be conducting his second seminar in Kuwait this month due to popular demand from the community .

World renowned memory management guru Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, holder of 2 World Records in memory management and push-ups, is the author of 25 books on mind and memory. This enriching seminar is specially to help children and professionals to perform better in academics and careers and always stay ahead in competitions.

In an exclusive email interview with IIK, Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury talks his experience in memory management and others...

First of all, tell us, you are an engineer by education, but how and why did you come into profession of memory trainings?

While I was doing engineering I was dealing with machines & engines. In fact brain is also like any other machine & works on certain principles. Now I am an engineer of brain. Brain teaches people how to control their body.

You are having two Guinness world records in the field of mind, body and memory. Can you specify what are the two world records you achieved? Any why you went for achieving them?

Memory world record-I Have earned the reputation of “Guinness world record holder in memory” by beating Germany’s Michaela Buchvaldova’s world record by recalling 14 randomly selected birth dates with names in same order in 2 minutes on 20 July 2006 at hotel Le Meridian, Delhi before all prominent print and electronic media.
Push-ups world records-Although I was born with a hole in my heart, but using my mind power techniques i also made a Push-Ups Record. I did 198 push-ups in one minute and broke the previous record of 138 push-ups in one minute made by Canadian Roy Berger in front of all prominent print and electronic media in Hotel Le-Meridian, Delhi.
I strongly believe that whatever you are teaching, you should first apply on yourself. You should become an example for others.

You have achieved a world record on maximum number of push-ups in one minute. Why you went for achieving this feat, when you are in the mind and memory field?

Although the push up world record seems like a body record, but the role of physical effort is about 20% and role of mind is 80%. Here also I used the mind techniques to achieve this record.

You have created a world record by making longest pen in the world. How this idea did come into your mind?

I have invented a pen called mnemonic pen to improve memory power. World’s Longest Pen was made to arouse curiosity among masses and also to prove that a pen is always mightier than sword. My invention mnemonic pen is a proof of that.

You have also produced a film? What is the theme of the film? Does the film carry any message?

I produced the film Yaad Rakhenge Aap . It is 3 hrs bollywood film having all the bollywood masala songs & comedy. But the theme of the film is based on memory methods. Audience in the process of watching the film learn different memory techniques. By the end of the film they realized that they can learn things much faster than they used to.

You have written a book called 4th idiot and “TeraKyaHogaKalia”, a dialogue from movie sholay. What are these books about?

The book 4th Idiot is an extension to the movie 3 Idiots. It starts from where 3 Idiots ends. Along with the movie there is a book named The 4th Idiot. Through the movie a message is given to achieve excellence. The book details on how to achieve excellence.
The book Tera Kya Hoga Kalia is a book having memory techniques based on popular bollywood songs & dialogues. The book is based on the principle of law of association & visualization. This book teaches how we can learn information by associating it with interesting & already memorable songs.

Among many of your inventions, you have invented a popular pen called as mnemonic pen. What is a mnemonic pen?

Mnemonic pen is a magical pen that allows its user to maintain a systematic mental catalogue for ready and speedy recall. The pen works on the principle of imagination and controlled attention. It has two basic rollers accommodating 120 memory codes. By using these codes, the user can create an infinite matrix system helping him/her to direct the information to specific addresses. The process supports his / her imaginative power and speeds up the learning process. The pen is useful to everybody and especially to students who prepare for their school/college and other competitive examinations. Any student who usually studies 10 to 12 hours a day would be able to achieve the same results in just 3 to 4 hours of study. The Mnemonic Pen, besides grossly improving the memory power, helps to cut down the stress load imposed on students by modern curricula.

You have conducted around 2000 seminars/ workshops internationally addressing more than 1 million people. Can you tell us your experience of what the people in this generation need to excel in life?

In this era of internet & information technology the youth are overburdened. They are bombarded with all kinds of information, some useful & other useless & also there is cut throat competition in career & jobs which is leading to excessive & uncontrollable amount of mental & physical stress leading to various kinds of life style diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart diseases etc. So this generation must need to learn the methods to de - stress & control the mind for positive success.

In this time, we realize that we need to memorize many things, sometimes very abstract things. Do you believe we can memorize anything and any amount of thing, without any limit?

As of now the capacity of human brain is still unknown to scientists & also in the history of mankind nobody has ever claimed that their memory is full to the capacity and cannot accommodate more information. It is very logical to believe that the capacity of human brain is virtually limitless. We can learn the things really very fast if we use the right memory method. So Yes, we can memorize anything and any amount of thing with right techniques.

You have authored 25 books on memory, you are the holder of many world records, you have held more than 2000 seminars worldwide. How did you achieve so much in such a small time? What is the secret of your success?

There is no secret of success, but I believe it is matter of interest. So one can really excel in a particular field if we choose the field in which we are interested in.

What is your further aim in life?

In the schools, colleges & universities it is being taught how to operate various kinds of machines including computers and others useful things. But no school teaches how to operate & manage the greatest machine of universe that is our own brain.
We are working towards making mind techniques & memory methods as part of school curriculum. I now want to ensure that these techniques are taught in every school as a compulsory subject.

Do you have any message for the young people of Kuwait?

Always be happy.

The seminar will be held on Saturday, 28th of April 2012 at Jabriya Kuwait Medical Association Hall auditorium. Entry to this one hour session will be free, but a pre registration is mandatory to allocate the time slot for the attendees. To : IIK Please republish this as I found out some minor errors in the previous. ----------------------------------------- I attended the Free Seminar today, 28 April 2012 at Jabriya. I could not believe my eyes when Dr. Biswraoop Chowdhury memorised and read out a screen full of numbers given on the spot by the audience. It was amazing and incredible! I was the first to register for the following 2-day workshop (29 and 30 April 2012) to learn the skill. I am eagerly waiting for attending the workshop. I feel this will be a turning point in my life. I decided to master the skills at any cost. Memory failure and absent-mindedness consume my precious time in office as well as back home. Time is wasted in locating things - may be a pen I was using a minute before or a doument given by my boss the day before. 'Memory is Wealth' sounds better than 'Health is Wealth' or 'Knowledge is Power'. It is a total waste of time and money if we cannot recall anything what we learnt. Knowledge is not what we learnt but what we learnt and memorized permanently. Knowledge gives the guidelines for a healthy living and wise management of our income. Good memorising capability makes a man healthy wealthy and wise. It is high time the topic is to be taught in schools and colleges. Opportunuity to master the memorsing techniques is a boon to students as well as teachers. I am a little jealous to the young as we did not have a Dr. Biswaroop in our school days. Otherwise I would have been drawing a 4-figure salary now.
