Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Satish C Mehta hosted a warm reception to HE T. K. A. Nair, Adviser to the Prime Minister of India with the rank of the Minister of State. Large number of community members, Indian business personalities and media representatives attended the reception hosted at India house.
The overall opinion about the Indian community working abroad specially in the middle east countries are encouraging and this shows the sincere and hardworking nature of Indians in this part of the world, Mr TKA Nair said. Indians working abroad are working towards the glorification of our country, he said. Indians are hardworking people and are contributing to the economy of the country they are living in, he added.
"Kuwait is keen to get more out of India. India is also very keen that the relationship with Kuwait must be a two-way traffic and economic cooperation must be multi-faceted given the great opportunities available to both countries,” he said while addressing the gathering.
Even though the NRI remittance from gulf region may be limited to benefit some part of the country, the result of that is enjoyed by the whole nation, he said. He commended the community members for their humanitarian services by supporting the less fortunate in the society.
“The community in Kuwait helps keep the country’s culture and civilization alive, a culture we have inherited for thousands of years. Some of the associations spend enormous time and efforts to organize major cultural events, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage,” he said.
During the reception, TKA Nair presented a gavel pin to Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Chisti, for her being bestowed with the prestigious Pravas Bharathi award in the year 2004. Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Chisti is recognized for enhancing the image of Indian Diaspora in the emirate of Kuwait, through her professional excellence.
During his visit, TKA Nair also met Advisors to Al-Diwan Al-Amiri of State of Kuwait, His Excellency Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Abo Al-Hassan and His Excellency Dr. Yousef Hamad Al-Ibrahim. Ambassador HE Satish C Mehta welcomed the audience. First Secretary Vidhu P Nair also spoke on the occasion. |
