Hello! To all the readers! This travelogue will take you to a tour of DUBAI-the city of tourists. After our final examinations in March, 2008, it was suddenly decided in a family get-together to visit Dubai. Since time was less it was decided to obtain visa on arrival. My family and four other families had decided to go on a three day tour to Dubai. Our beginning of the journey was a bit sad because one of the family was stopped at the Kuwait airport because the validity of their residency permit was less than 6 months, which is required to get U.A.E. visa. We were very sad for leaving them behind. We reached Dubai at 10:30A.M. and after seeing the beauty of Dubai we all forgot all our sadness because anyone who sees the beauty of Dubai is sure to forget all their worries. I was stunned at the sight of the airport itself because it was such a huge airport and it was so nicely planned and decorated. Even before reaching the airport I was amazed to see big palm tree shaped man-made islands that also for residential purpose. From the airport we went directly to our hotel. We were tired so we decided to rest for a while. In the evening we decided to go to Gold Souk. Let me tell you that Dubai’s Gold Souk is one of the largest gold markets in the world. It is 1.5km long filled with only jewelry shops. (It is a must go place especially for ladies). While going to Gold Souk we came across Burj-Khalifa (the tallest tower of the world) which was still being constructed at that point of time. But still I was speechless after seeing the tower being constructed. In Gold Souk we were again still amazed at the sight of so many jewelry shops, it seemed like that it would never end. I just kept on wondering that how much kilos of gold was there in the entire market. Just as I was wondering we came across a statue of Lord Ganesha nearly 2.5ft tall that also made up of entirely solid gold and studded with precious and semi-precious stones. It was such a huge market that we could only explore a part of the market. There we had our dinner at an Indian restaurant and the food was simply delicious. From there we went back to our hotel to have a good night’s sleep. The next day morning we went to a small temple complex which had shrines of many different Gods, there we also saw a Gurudwara.
At noon we went to a museum. Over there we saw models depicting different sceneries of Dubai at olden times (like market places, pearl diving and other instruments, weapons and many more things of olden times). In the evening we went to dessert safari. (This is a once in a lifetime experience so this should be included in your tour if you are going to Dubai). I was so thrilled by the experience that I wanted to go again and again but Alas! I could not. We also rode camels over there. After all the activities we had a traditional and really really tasty barbeque dinner over there (the barbeque dinner is a must for all those who love non-veg). After the dinner we saw a traditional belly dance. We returned to our hotel at around midnight exhausted but thrilled by the day’s experience. The next day we went for a city tour in the morning. We went to a beach just beside the 7-star hotel Burj Al-Arab. We saw many more buildings like- Pencil tower, Emirates tower, Jumeriah hotel and many more buildings. There we had a great time. Then at noon we took a ride on the amphibian bus. Just like the name says it is a bus that can move both on land and water (Dubai is one of the few places where you will find such buses and this is great ride especially for children). I was really excited to ride the bus as it was the first time I heard of such a bus and I was more thrilled after riding the bus. After the ride we went to the Mall Of Emirates (this one of the largest malls in the world and a very nice shopping complex especially for ladies). But we went there not to shop but to ski in Ski Dubai (this is an indoor ski resort and is a must if you visit Dubai). We didn’t have much time so we could not ski but had lots of fun in the non-skiing area. Over there we saw sculptures made of ice, quad and tow lift to carry skiers and snow boarders up the slopes, igloos and many more things. We rode sledges, played in the slides (even the elderly people played with us), we had a snow fight and did many more activities. I only hoped we had some more time so that we could enjoy ourselves more over there. After that we explored the mall for some time and bought souvenirs for our loved ones. At night we had our dinner in Dhow cruise, it was an amazing dinner. After dinner we returned to our hotel happy but sad also because we had to leave the next day early morning.
So, this was my amazing experience in Dubai. But I hope return to Dubai once more so that I can experience the places I left and find out more new amazing things. This is an experience that will remain in my heart forever. I hope to explore more wonderful places and share my experiences with you people and encourage you visit those wonderful places. In the mean time be healthy and explore some really wonderful places and share your experiences with us. Till then good-bye.
