Junior Asia Cup: Indian eves thrash Singapore 9-0
Posted on 7/3/2012
Indian eves continued their good work in the sixth Women's Junior Asia Cup Hockey Championship as they thrashed Singapore 9-0 to win their second consecutive match. For India, it was the Rani’s show as both skipper Ritu Rani and vice-captain Poonam Rani scored hat-tricks.

Vandana Kataria scored the scoring for India in the sixth minute goal through a penalty corner. Anupa Barla doubled India’s lead with a goal soon after that. Poonam opened her account in the 22nd minute and Chanu took India’s score to 4-0 just before the change of ends.

After the half time Poonam got to her hat-trick and from there on captain Ritu Rani took the matter in her hands. She scored all her goals from short corners and got to her hat-trick.

India were not the only team who dominated their opposition as China defeated Sri Lanka 21-0 and Korea beat Pakistan 19-0.
