Culinary knowledge is taught to beginners to seasoned cooks and also children.
Professional Chef Paul Morris with over 30 years of culinary expertise in international cuisines brought his perspective to this event. Chef Paul has worked and experienced many international cuisines among restaurants and homes in numerous countries. Currently he is offering a practical experience perspective to Diet Care’s valuable program and giving a unique perspective on the operational and procedural restaurant process that affects “Healthy Dining”.

Chef Morris say:

“From thirty years of experience I challenge the Diet Care customer to learn how to truly enjoy their dining-out experience by being better educated as to their menu and restaurant options”

“Working together with the professional Diet Care team of diet consultants and nutritionists this is possible -we offer the Diet Care customer a truly unique “Healthy Dining Experience”

So when leading companies in health industry along with expert came together “The Nutri – Event” was one of its kind. This event cleared the misconception that eating at home is best and healthy as it helps us to choose what and how much food we eat. Chef Paul’s presentation of food from Italian, Lebanese, Mexican & Japanese cuisines offered the explanation of the problems and solutions to eating out healthy. It covered what to eat, what not to eat, how much and how often.

The fast moving practical tips session with rationale for each tip left each one with some ideas on what to do next time when they “EAT OUT”. Every Tip was designed to help make food choices and decisions consistent with maintaining optimal heath. The explanations of each tip increased “knowledge power” so that we know “the reason why”.

One of the most damaging places to eat for a person who is watching what he or she eats is the local buffet line. Most restaurants offering buffet encourage individuals to eat more than they really should. Most of the time, people at buffets are eating more to get their money's worth than they are for the pure enjoyment of the food. In the end, people do eat their money's worth, but they end up coming home with guilt and few extra calories.

According to Chef Paul today, most restaurants have recognized that people are trying to make a move towards a healthier lifestyle. This not only includes increased physical activity, but changes in diet as well. As a result, most restaurants now offer their customers a variety of light and healthy meal options. These alternatives are often lower in fat and calories, making them much healthier alternatives than most other items on the menu.

Chef Paul suggests if the menu does not provide you with a healthy alternative, speak up. Do not be afraid to ask your waiter or the chef/cook for an alternative preparation. Ask for dressings on the side, choose whole-wheat breads, or ask if there is an alternate (healthier) way of preparing your entrée. Keep an eye on your portions. Eating double serving of the healthy meal is definitely not healthy.

The session ended with interactive hand on session in which Chef Paul taught how to make Healthy Sushi. If I didn’t see with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe how easy it was 14 year old Mohammed expressed interest and rolled the sushi like a PRO.

At the end of the Nutri-Event Healthy sandwiches, juices, and desserts sponsored by “Diet Care- Kuwait” were served and enjoyed by participants.

I can surely feel now it’s possible to leave the comfort of my home and eat healthy at a restaurant without having to feel guilty afterwards.

My Experience with IIK
One of my most wonderful experiences of life has been because of IIK, because I had won my first trophy and medal!
It was the Kala Kuwait Children’s Day painting competition held at The Indian Community School, Khaitan on 5th November 2010. Even though I never had the faith in myself that I was good enough, but because of IIK, my mother urged me to give it a try and I did it! This was made possible because of IIK’s constant notifications about the various competitions held all around Kuwait for Indian children. We get to portray our talents and also earn rewards which are very inspiring for us. This encourages us to continue contending and demonstrate our potential.
Not only that even when we see other children winning competitions, their names published on the young talents’ page or on the winners’ list or even on the IIK news, it makes us want to try harder to achieve more and more. Sometimes, it is just the encouragement and will power to go on that we lack. We need persuasion from time to time. IIK notifies us about Kala Kuwait every year and we consistently attend those competitions without fail.I am looking forward to the next Kala Kuwait competition and I am sure I will win it once again. This is just one example I have given of my IIK experience but I have many more. This is an exclusive media source that keeps us updated with all the current happenings in Kuwait. Thanks to IIK, now my second most wonderful moment will be winning this competition.
