Vandalure Zoo
Posted on 8/8/2012
When I was staying in my aunt’s house in GilNagar [TamilNadu] I had got a lucky chance to visit Vandalur Zoo. All of us got ready the very next day. We started our journey at 7;00 am and reached at the right place at 9;00 am .The journey took two hours.

We were quite excited. As soon as we got down from our car. I, my sister and my cousins rushed towards the gate. My dad and I stood in a long queue to get the tickets. We had to also pay for the cameras. As soon as we entered, the entire compound walls were painted with the pictures of animals. We had to walk a bit long to reach another gate. There were bicycles near the gate. My cousin asked one of the men standing over there why were these bicycles placed over there .He said that some people who are interested in cycling Around the zoo can take one these cycles and have a lovely masti . He asked us whether we were interested, but we said no since we wanted to talk with each other and have some races in between us and so on. At first we saw a giraffe. It was beautiful. The small cute baby giraffe was standing with his mom. And then we moved towards snakes. Those scary little creatures loped over each other.. They seriously looked like Black mountains. All my family members felt suffocating expect me. Our next stop was towards the elephants. It might be a great pleasure for you to hear that the elephants along with their babies were exercising together. Some other elephants started chasing each other .I took a photo of an elephant drinking water. The bears were quite opposite to the elephants. These bears caught hold of the cage’s railings and tried to stand. I thought it was a way of welcoming us. These grizzly bears were fond of people mostly. They thought of touching us .But we quickly took a turn and moved towards the crocodiles. These cute little crocodiles looked at us with pleasure. They opened their mouths wide and showed us their white teeth. As we were looking at their teeth, my sister pointed towards the tortoises.

Even they were black. Near them there were Navaratna Tortoises. They were so small and pretty. Baby tortoises looked so so lovely.

We then saw deer. They were standing and did not make a single move. I also touched the deer’s back. And then we saw an anteater. It looked like a mouse. It was moving here and there non-stop mostly searching for ants. Quite opposite to them we saw zebras . My sister wanted to touch them eagerly. But she couldn't do it. As we moved on we saw a variety of monkeys. It was informative. Then we moved towards birds .We saw a variety of birds. We saw love birds, parrots, pigeons, sparrows, and many others. As we moved on, my sister was attracted by some small rides over there. She ran over there sat in the sew-saw and yelled for us to come and join her. We too wanted to have some rest and sat on the benches placed over there. I along with my cousins stood on the merry-go-round and seriously got dizzy. The most exciting thing in our trip was none other than the safari. My uncle bought the tickets. We got up quickly and followed our uncle. It was a quite a short distance for us to walk. We had to stand in queue. There were 3 to 4 buses. When it was our turn we gave our tickets to the uncle sitting near the bus. We took our seats and then the safari driver started to drive. We at first headed towards the lions. We were eager to see them clearly. There were some people standing near the gate, as soon as they saw our bus approaching they opened the gates. OOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! We couldn’t believe our eyes. As we were moving it would be surprising for you to hear that some of the lions and lioness were blocking our way. They were sitting on the road. Some of the passengers thought of Getting out of the bus and touching them. It took at least half-an-hour for getting those lions out of our way. Since Vandalur zoo is partially located on the nearby hill, the driver took us over there. The scenic view was beautiful. Amazing !!!!!!

As we came down we saw some bears. . And then we moved on our way we saw, deer, tigers and so on. The time had come for them to close the zoo. We too felt tired and reached the gate as fast as we can and bought ice-creams and went towards our car. It was fun spending our day in the zoo and I would also ask you to visit this place since it would be quite informative and enjoyable experience for your family especially your kids.
