Paceman Kamal Passi ripped apart Zimbabwe’s batting with an impressive six wicket haul to help India clinch a 68 runs victory in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup at the Tony Ireland Stadium here.
Passi was on song and devastated the Zimbabwe batting order by dismissing the top five batsmen to reduce them to 117-5 within 32 overs. The African minnows were eventually dismissed for 198 in 44.1 overs while chasing 262.
It was Malcolm Lake of Zimbabwe who put up some resistance by scoring 118 off 107 deliveries which included 10 fours and five sixes in his innings. He was the last man out.
Earlier, after being to put into bat India scored 261-6 skipper Unmukt Chand emerging as the top-scorer.
Chand scored 78 of 95 deliveries and his knock was laced with nine fours and three sixes and along with his opening partner Prashant Chopra (57) put up an opening partnership of 139 in 26.3 overs. Chopra hit seven fours in his 82 deliveries innings.
