Teachers’ Day is celebrated as a tribute to the valuable contribution made by the teachers to the society by imparting knowledge and shaping the career of students. In India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the 5th of September, the birth anniversary of Dr. S.Radhakrishnan, a great scholar and educator India has ever seen. Bhavanites, the true flag-bearers of Indian ethos and culture in Kuwait celebrated Teachers’ Day most majestically by paying reverence and gratitude to their beloved teachers for their selfless effort in shaping their future and enriching their knowledge so as to prepare their wings for their successful flight in the broad ,all-encompassing sky of life.
The events of the day were planned by the democratically elected Supreme Council of Students. The fact that no other school in Kuwait has ever witnessed such a spectacular Teachers’ Day celebrations by the students speaks volumes and volumes about the child-centred learning and the lofty ideals that the Bhavanites have imbibed at Bhavans.
The pedagogues were ushered into the auditorium and were given an ecstatic standing ovation by the students as a token of their admiration and adoration for their dear teachers. The serenades sung by the students in their teachers’ honour left many a teacher misty eyed. The countless cards and bouquets presented to the teachers were indeed a testimony of the exalted pedagogic culture of Bhavans.
The very many virtusos of Bhavans unwrapped a vibrant cultural fiesta that consisted musical, dance and dramatic performances that highlighted the prominence of the noblest profession. Vocal and instrumental music emanated from the stage was soothing to the soul. The peppy dance segment followed was truly a kaleidoscope of colours and rhythm. The hilariousskit – ‘Make a Tale’ showcased by grade 12 students was the icing on the cake of the day’s fiesta as the exceptionally talented students displayed a veritably laudable and entertaining display of their fine flairs. The seventh and eight graders presented skits ,dances and instrumental music. The thought-provoking skit staged by them on ‘the importance of classroom discipline’ won the hearts of the audience. The satirical skit on the mushrooming ‘nonsensical reality shows’ on television channels was also ardently approbated by the audience .
The fifth and sixth graders also added merriment to the occasion. The audience witnessed a few solo dance performances and a hilarious mono act. The culmination of the cultural fiesta was marked by a fascinating fusion musical extravaganza by the young wunderkinds of grades five and six.
The artistic amalgamation of talent and fun was followed by two hours of outdoor games where the traditional boundaries between the pedagogues and the students were temporarily torn down as both groups engaged themselves in various games in the school playground. Principal Mr T. Premkumar thanked the students profusely for organizing the events of the day in the most magnificent manner “This day will ever remain etched in my memories and the memories of your teachers. Thank you children” said the Principal. The appreciation and gratitude from their dear students for the altruistic devotion of the teachers indeed touched a few chords in the hearts of the teachers and left behind a trail of indelible memories. The bouquets presented to them may wilt and wither but they are sure to cherish the fond memories of the Teachers’ Day Celebrations for a life time. |
