A Big start to the "Clean Abbasiya" project

Under the leadership of Prominent community member and Chairman of united Indian School Sri Thomas Chandy MLA, the "Clean Abbasiya" project was launched here on Sunday morning by Abbasiya Resident welfare association and United Indian School management. Massive team including five trucks and Bulldozer along with large number of cleaning workers from a private company started the cleaning works in Abbasiya.

“We require a minimum of five days to make the whole Abbasiya clean. Minimum two trucks required for cleaning the garbage’s from one area ", said the resident welfare association Chairman Hi-Dine Thomas, who was coordinating the cleaning work.

The unending issues of garbage, drainage, traffic etc in Abbasiya were reported by IndiansinKuwait.com on several occasions. Heaps of garbage has been seen at various locations inside the residential areas from more than three weeks now. The garbage piles are getting decayed and the waste getting scattered on the road which makes it inconvenient for the free movement of the residents including school children. Even after continuous promises from the authorities, there is no visible sign of an immediate solution.

Tens of thousands of school children are walking over the streets of Abbasiya daily to the various Indian schools in this area including United Indian School. Children started feeling the itch and have skin irritations. The Chairman of United Indian School Mr Thomas Chandy yesterday announced the launch of "Clean Abbasiya" project with the active support of Abbasiya resident welfare association.

"United Indian School management will bear all the expenses required for this" Mr Chandy said.

"This is really a great initiative by the United Indian School Management. But more than this, the residents also must be more aware about the need for keeping their place of living neat", said on of the resident living in Abbasiya. "Here people throw their used furniture and toilets wherever they want. And we close our eyes and jump over the garbage. We have to conduct some awareness program for the residents", one of the resident, who do not wish to disclose his name opined.

The “Clean Abbasiya” project will continue till whole area becomes clean. “The Municipality had promised us to remove garbage’s dumped at the temporary dumping area made by the municipalities’ new cleaning contracting company, near German Clinic. However if they failed to remove it on time, we are ready to take up that also” Mr Chandy informed.

Along with Mr Thomas Chandy, Members of the Abbaisiya resident welfare association members Somu Mathre, Raghunathan Nair, Raju Zachariya, Jacob Thomas, Binoy Jacob, Babuji Bathery, Chessil Ramapuram etc coordinated the clean Abbasiya project.
