Indian Embassy provided assistance to 349 Indians in the first quarter of 2014 through ICWF fund

Indian Embassy in Kuwait spends KD 7,302.970 for providing assistance to distressed Indian Workers from the Indian Community Welfare Fund during the period of January to March in the year 2014. According to statement released by the Embassy, the majority of the assistance are in the form of boarding and lodging for distressed Indian Workers in domestic sectors (Article 20 visa), Extending emergency medical care to the Overseas Indians, Providing air passage to stranded and distressed Overseas Indians and Expenditure on incidentals and for airlifting the mortal remains to India of the deceased Overseas Indians in cases where the sponsor is unable or unwilling to do so as per the contract and the family is also unable to meet the cost.

Embassy also released the number of cases during the period January-March 2014 in which Embassy provided air ticket, medical care and contingency travel expenses to the distressed Indian Workers. According to this, KD 3395 is spend on Air-tickets provided to 68 destitute workers accommodated in Embassy shelters during the period. 257 Indian nationals provided contingency/ travel expenses at a cost of KD 1573.870. KD 384 spend on Airlifting of hospitalized Indians and their Escorts. Eight mortal remains were airlifting of to India at a cost of KD 1315. During the period, KD 65 spend on providing basic amenities to female jail inmates and 120 KD spend on miscellaneous expenses (Photos for Emergency Certificate) etc, said the statement.
