Kuwait Engineers Forum begins its Year-long Silver Jubilee Celebrations

Kuwait Engineer’s Forum (KEF), the largest Engineers Association in Kuwait, established in 1989 is celebrating its Silver Jubilee in the year 2014-15. Starting with a shade over 800 members, this organization has grown into gigantic proportions with over 1350 members and is still growing. The Executive Committee under the stewardship of Mr.G. Santhosh Kumar has chalked out a gamut of activities throughout the year to celebrate this momentous milestone in the most befitting manner. These pan across a wide canvas of topics including Sports, Cultural, special Art and Craft, etc. for all the KEF family members.

The celebrations kicked off in right earnest with a series of Art and Craft workshops that started on the 27th of June at the indoor sports arena of Latifa Towers, Mehboula. It’s a matter of pride for the association that despite being an Engineering professionals set-up, its members are very adept at other many special crafts and hence, the mentors for the same were chosen from within the KEF family. Members of the association who were highly skilled in specific areas came forward and volunteered to conduct workshops with the sole intention of introducing their skills to other members, family and children. Three hour sessions were conducted every Friday and Saturday. The overflowing hall at each and every session bears testimony to the grand success of the program. The overwhelming response from members coupled with the quality of the presentation and the ultimate joy on the faces of the mentor and the participants was proof of a job well begun. A total of over 300 participants braved summer heat and attended the various sessions and the organizers were forced to close registrations to enable the sessions to be on a one-to-one personal basis. In order to fulfill the desire of the eager participants, organizers are exploring the possibility of repeat sessions in the days to come. The workshops conducted include Coffee painting, Hand Embroidery, Glass Painting, Paper Quilling, Cup Cake Decoration, Terracotta Jewelry, Mural Painting, Origami, Oats Delight, Vegetable carving, Glitter Painting, Crystal & Swarovski Jewelry, Silk Painting and Crochet. Mentors for the sessions included Sreelakshmi, Geetha Rajan, Indhu Tibish, Flavia Dinto, Sini, Thennal, Vineetha, Sajitha, Sona Santhosh, Bindu Natarajan, ,Grace Saju, Deepthy Rudradas, Rajani Suresh and Shemej Kumar. Members of KEF Executive Committee 2014-15 played key roles in organizing the entire program under the untiring leadership of Art and Craft Workshop coordinator Mrs. Sanila Gopakumar and Arts Convener Mr. Sanjay Cherian. No word of praise is enough for the zeal and devotion shown by Ms Sanila in the execution of her responsibility.

While development of the KEF members and family along with introducing the art and cultural flavour of India to the GenNext remain the principal purpose of the association, it never fails in fulfilling its commitment to the society. KEF has always taken pride of being in the forefront of GIVING in times of need. In continuation with its obligation to the society, the forum is planning for a blood donation campaign for its members in February 2015. Other activities of KEF and its constituent associations include quiz competitions and Science exhibitions, Sports meet, International Technical Exhibition and Technical Conference, Cricket, Volleyball, Throwball competitions for its members making it a multi-dimensional association, a one of its kind in Kuwait.
