'Onathanima' and annual 'Tug ‘O War competition this Friday

Arrangements for Annual 'ONATHANIMA 2014', the United Onam carnival of Malayalees in Kuwait and the 10th Annual 'Tug ‘O War' competition are going on in full swing, the organizers informed in a press meet. The event will be held here at Indian Central School Open Ground, Abbasiya on Friday, 24th October 2014.

Around 16 teams are registered for the 'Tug ‘O War' competition, organizers said. Like every year, Tug ‘O War championship will be held under the guidance and guidelines of TWIF (Tug-O-War International Federation) for ‘San Celia Ever Rolling Gold Cup’. The 1st & 2nd runners up will be presented with Blue Line Ever Rolling Trophy and Jiju Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy respectively. The winning teams will also receive prize money, besides individual medals & certificates for each participant. In addition to this, all teams qualified to the quarter round will be awarded 51 KD.

First round of Tug ‘O War will start at 4:00 pm. The cultural procession will begin by 5:30. more than 46 art forms from Kerala will be present in the procession, organizers said. The official inauguration will be held at 6:00 pm by Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sunil Jain.

The coveted ‘Pearl of the School’ award, instituted by Thanima, for the best all-rounder from each Indian Schools in Kuwait will be presented during the event. Candidate will be nominated by the School Principal/ Management based on guidelines provided.

Babuji Batheri, Hidine Thomas, Iqbal Kuttamangalam, Jomon, Jacob Varghese, TK Dileep and Usha Dileep were present during the press meet.
