IEI - Kuwait Chapter Celebrated Gala Family Day in Wafra - Eng. Inbatamizh Ilangovan

The Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait Chapter held its much coveted Gala Annual Family Day Event on 26th Dec ’14 at the Wafra green farm Chalet. The bright winter morning greeted the members as they entered the venue after a joyful ride, some enjoyed the arranged bus trip and others drove in their own vehicles.

Although the Family Days name is attached to so many wonderful areas of community giving and enjoyment, it simply could not happen without the help of our generous Sponsors, sweated out by amazing volunteers, and supported by the IEI committee members. More than that, it is the IEI members, families and their lovely guest, those who participate in our events. Yoga enthusiasts participated in the Yoga practice with instructor Engr. Hirak Kumar Mitra and stretched themselves for the start. Breakfast and beverages were served to the members and their families on arrival at the premises. After a short a period, everybody assembled in the open area in a relaxed way for enjoying the day’s event. The DJ was playing some melody and fast track songs and the folks were tapping the legs to the tunes. The MC Mr. Anson encouraged all the children and adults to participate with full enthusiasm in all the events and enjoy the company of others.

Engr. Joseph Panicker, Chairman, IEI, who has been running pillar to post in organizing this eventful day, declared the meet open and informed that all efforts have been put by the members in organizing the event and wished all the members advance a happy new year greetings. He thanked the chief guest Dr. Mustafa Al Mousawi FRCS, President, Kuwait Transplant Society and Chairman, Department of Organ Transplant Center, Kuwait for accepting IEI’s invitation and for travelling all the distance along with his life partner Madam Suha. He appreciated the noble couple for giving their priority to attend the IEI family day function by cancelling their Malaysian trip. IEI Chairman invited the chief guest to address the gathering. The learned surgeon, Fellow of the Royal Society Dr. Mustafa Mousawi, addressed the joyful family gathering in a very simple and humble way. He explained in a vivid manner the importance of organs transplant for the human beings. He clarified how the organ transplant can save thousands of people who critically need them. Dr. Mustafa drew the attention of the members about the organ transplant issues, answered many queries and cleared the myths surrounding them. Many have readily signed up their consent forms for the organ donation and the consent forms ran out of stock.

Dr. Mustafa was very glad to see the impromptu response from the Indian Engineers and families for the great social cause and he appreciated their generosity. Members took photographs with Dr. Mustafa as kind remembrance of the noble deed. The eloquent Dr. Sabhiha Bilgrami the MC for the inaugural function invited Eng. Inbatamizh Ilangovan to present a memento to the chief guest Dr. Mustafa as a token of love and affection. Flower Bouquets were presented to Mr. John Simon, Group Manager of Al Mulla Exchange Company for being the silver sponsor of IEI, Mr. Shibu Pallickal for introducing Dr. Mustafa to IEI and madam Suha by IEI children.

Then the Mr. Anson MC took over the show and there were innumerable games for kids and adults alike! Children enjoyed the games and the ladies and gentlemen participated in the various games organized by the MC Mr. Anson.

The Bombay Aziz added more symphony tunes to this fun-filled morning by lending his vibrant melodious voice and people were swaying to the yesteryears musical, meaningful songs. Delicious Lunch was served to the members by Winners Restaurant - live from the tandoor kitchen, with grilled items, kabbabs, and Rotis, fried rice, served hot and the lips smacking hot jilabis and Gulab jamun to finish with a sweet lingering taste. Post lunch, Mrs. Bharati organized the events and all witnessed an impromptu talent show ranging from a three year old to adults, which kept the entertainment quotient on an all-time high!

Dr. Mahendhran General Secretary proposed the vote of thanks; he thanked each and everybody from bottom of his heart for making the function a grand success.

What was remarkable about this year’s event was that it had the maximum participation by its members, which made it a huge success. The memorable day came to an end with the members dancing and singing merrily around the bonfire with flames rising along with fun loving and dancing members, as a unifying spirit cutting across the boundaries of regions that’s the beauty of such an event where families join together as one entity in building happy communities...
