Kuwait Kannada Koota Celebrates Daasothsava- 2015

It was a spectacular show of Daasotsava organized by KKK on Friday, 20thFEB, 15 at Carmel School, Khaitan, Kuwait. Daasotsava is celebrated in memory of all our saint poets and the prime among them was Sri.Purandara Dasa in the 16th Century AD. These Dasas wrote keerthanas (poem like) highlighting their live experiences to a lay man explaining how one should lead their life and what are the precautions to be taken to lead a worthy life of character. Every year KKK celebrates this festival in the month of February for the benefit of our children to know our rich cultural heritage of Karnataka.

The program started with an in-vocational keerthana rendered by Mrs.Vasantha Ashok and Mrs.Madhavi Kulkarni. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the executive committee of 2015 lead by Mr.Sudhir Shenoy, President, Mr.Girish Shenoy, Vice President, Mr. Deepak Katti, Secretary and Mr.Kiran Bhat, treasurer of the Koota. Mr.Sudhir Shenoy, president of the Koota welcomed the gathering and spoke of modern youth, science & technology intertwining with spirituality.

The Fancy dress competition by children of the Koota stole the show. The parents of these tiny tots had spent a lot of their time and energy in dressing up their children to look as mythological Gods.It was truly nice to see these beautiful children coming on to the stage with all their innocence. This was followed by a nice fusion dance by the children of the Koota which was very colorful.

The EC 2015 honored the meritorious students of the Koota who passed out in flying colors in their X and XII standard exams. The in-house magazine “Marala Mallige” was conceptualized by Marala Mallige convener Mr.Ullas Vadana who spoke about the importance of making our children and as well as adults of the Koota to get into writing habits which is very much lacking in today’s youth. The first in-house magazine was released on this day by Marala Mallige committee along with executive committee members of the Koota.

The Bhajans rendered by the ladies of the Koota were divided into three groups from Salmiya, Reggae and Fahaheel group and the keerthana sung by them were melodious. The gents Bhajan group headed by Dr.Surendra Nayak rendered a melodious soulful keerthana which was applauded by the audience.

The last program of the day was Tableauof Ashtalakshmi showing as to what is the significance of each Lakshmi portrayed. It was due to the efforts of the PR committee headed by Mrs.Rekha Damodar that the attendance of the members was full. The whole cultural program was under the guidance of cultural committee convener Mrs. Divya Krishna Prasad and co-convener Dr.Mrs. Preeti Shetty.

The program ended with a vote of thanks from the general secretary of the Koota Mr. Deepak Katti. Members were treated to a sumptuous “Baleyele Oota” by Oriental Restaurant, Kuwait.
