Three Government agencies will undertake Nursing recruitment to Kuwait

Three Government agencies in India will handle the nursing recruitment to Kuwait and talks will continue to outline the modalities of recruitment, the visiting delegation from India said. The four member delegation consisting Shri Tom Jose, Principle Secretary, Department of Labour, Govt. of Kerala, Smt. Rani George Secretary, NORKA, Government of Kerala, Shri R.S. Kannan, CEO & MD NORKA-Roots and Dr. G.L. Muraleedharan MD, ODEPC were talking to the community leaders at the Indian Embassy auditorium after the two day meeting with Kuwait authorities along with Indian Ambassador H E Mr Sunil Jain. Indian Ambassador HE Sunil Jain, will follow-up further talks with the Kuwait authorities and a clear guideline will be made in coming days, the delegation said.

Kuwait Government currently entrusted 32 recruiting agencies in Kuwait approved by Central Tender Committee (CTC) for recruiting nurses to various hospitals and clinics across the country. These agencies appoint sub agents in India who take large amount as bribes to the tune of 15 to 20 lakhs from the applicants. According to new rule, starting from May 1st, Indian government will not give emigration clearance to nurses who are recruited through private agencies. Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC), Roots-Norka (the agency that looks after the welfare of the Kerala diaspora) and Overseas Manpower Corporation Limited (OMCL),Tamil Nadu are the only government agencies authorised to recruit Indian nurses to Kuwait after April 30th.

According to the delegates, the Kuwait Ministry of Health officials accepted this proposal and any requirement for nurses will get registered under India government's e-migrate system. Indian Embassy will help the Kuwait authorities in this process, Ambassador Sunil Jain said. This will assure complete transparency on the recruitment process. The complete job requirements including offered salary, working hours etc will be provided at the e-migrate system. "This itself is a big achievement as it will completely eliminate fake offers," said Ambassador Sunil Jain.

Once the requirements are listed on E-migrate system three government agencies ODEPEC, NORKA and OMCL will handle the interview process for the candidates short-listed from the database of nurses registered with them.

Community leaders who attended the discussion praised the efforts of Indian Ambassador HE Sunil Jain for bringing an end to the corrupt practices in Nurses Recruitment where the private agencies are charging 15 to 20 lakh from the candidates.
