Expats to be caught driving without licences would face immediate deportation as of today (Thursday) due to traffic safety reasons, the Ministry of Interior said on Thursday.
The decision came in line with the traffic law and executive bylaw, said a statement by the Ministry's Security Media Department.
It aims at curbing the phenomenon of expats driving without valid licences, posing hazardous threats to themselves and others on roads.
The statement referred to the move as a preventive measure that seeks in the first place to guarantee full commitment to state laws and systems.
It stressed seriousness by the concerned security and traffic bodies about implementing the decision.
