Municipality seizes 4 tons of expired food

KUNA Saturday, April 25, 2015

The Kuwait Municipality has seized four tons and 368 kg of expired food in a crackdown on a food store in Hawalli Governorate.

In collaboration with the ministries of commerce and industry, and interior, a municipal team has managed to seize this large amount of expired food that is unfit for human consumption, Hawalli Governorate Emergency Chief Riyad Al-Rabea said in a press statement on Saturday.

The crackdown is part of the Kuwait Municipality's continuing campaign targeting law-breaking shops, markets and warehouses, he said, warning that legal action would be strictly taken against violators.

The Kuwait Municipality carries out continuing nationwide crackdowns on vendors, restaurants, shops and food stores in order to make sure that commodities they sell are good and fit for human consumption.

Municipal teams had confiscated 25 tons of food from 12 unlicensed street vendors in Ahmadi Governorate, and referred them to relevant authorities for legal action immediately.
