One million captagon pills (illegal drugs) have been seized hidden in wooden flower or plant pots originating from Lebanon, a Ministry of Interior statement said on Saturday.
The pots were shipped by air cargo from Lebanon to Kuwait, said Maj.Gen. Abdulhameed Al-Awadhi who is the ministry's assistant undersecretary for criminal affairs, noting that the trajectory of the shipment of the pots was monitored from Lebanon until arrival in Kuwait where it was stored in the area of Jeleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
Two men, aged 23 and 24, were arrested for smuggling the drugs from Lebanon to Kuwait, both of whom admitted guilt, said Al-Awadhi.
He added that seizing this enormous amount of captagon pills was tantamount to a preemptive strike against drug smugglers and dealers who run gangs seeking to flood the country with their poisonous products.
According to the ministry statement, its undersecretary Lt.Gen. Sulaiman Al-Fahad expressed great pride in the work of the ministry personnel in making this crucial seizure of illegal drugs, promising relentless vigilance against the gangs of smugglers and dealers.
