HMWA organized socio-religious enlightenment program

Hyderabad Muslim Welfare Association HMWA organized a socio-religious enlightenment program on 16 May 2015 under the patronage of Masjid Al-Kabeer and Ministry of Awqaf. The program was held at Majid Al-Mahri, Salmiya, after Asr Prayer. Prominent personalities of Hyderabad and renowned Islamic scholars addressed the gathering.

A thought provoking lecture was delivered by Sheikh Khalid Ahmad Rohm on the topic “How to bring back the time of Sahaba”. Sheikh Rohm is a well-known Kuwaiti orator in English speaking Muslim community. He said that what made Sahaba special was their Iman (faith); they learnt Iman from the Prophet (Pbuh) for thirteen years in Makkah which prepared them to be obedient to Allah during prosperity as well as in adversity. One can easily notice major part of the verses revealed in Makkah talk about Iman in Allah and hereafter, and narrate the stories of earlier generations, Jannah (paradise) and Jahannum (hell). Iman of sahaba hereafter was like a mountain and In Makkah period Iman was only in focus. With the power of Iman an army of 313 Sahaba defeated the army of 1000 polytheists from Makkah in the battle of Bard. Today’s Muslims know that interest, gambling, intoxication, fornication and stealing is Haram (forbidden) but they involve in these vices because their Iman is not strong enough

He also narrated a story of a Sahabi to strengthen our Al-Muraqaba (Allah is always watching us wherever go).

He deplored the current situation of the Muslims around the world. Many Muslims of this age have given up their Deen (religion) for Dunya (the world). He urged the audience to strictly follow Quran and Sunnah, and to be from among those who give to the world and beneficial for the mankind.

Mr. Ikram Taufeeq, Well known economist and chartered accountant made an informative presentation on the topic “wealth management Islamic way”. He reminded the audience that money is not the only wealth we have; we have got numerous blessings of Allah which are more valuable than money such as health but we fail to realize. Mr. Taufeeq urged the audience be thankful to Allah, do good deeds and spend our wealth to benefit others and please our creator. He highlighted the point that we came empty in this world and we will go from this world empty. While throwing light on the merits and demerits of wealth, he said that we are only the custodians of our wealth and we have not been given wealth because of our abilities and talents. He deplored the existing disparity between the rich and the poor. Handful people of the world own almost two third wealth of the world. 3 billion people of the world live on $ 2 a day. Greed and selfishness of the rich breeds hatred in the poor against rich. Mementoes given to both the speakers by Prominent guests Mr Kareem Irfan , Aslam Imadi and Mr Rashed Ali. Mr Mushtaq introduced the speakers Mubeen Ahmed conducted the program with excellent skills.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Master Syed Mustafa followed by a welcome speech by HMWA president Mr. Syed Ifteqar Ahmed. Mr. Abdul Azeem, General Secretary HMWA, concluded the program with his vote of thanks.
