Indian community members abroad were targeted by gangs of fraudsters

IIK Staff Reporter Wednesday, June 8, 2016

The embassy of India Kuwait issued an advisor to Indian community regarding the fraudsters which target Indian community abroad. The advisory issued by the embassy is give below:

Government of India has recently come across several reports of frauds where Indian community members abroad were targeted by gangs of fraudsters. The modus operandi of these fraudsters is to call victims saying that the local authorities have initiated legal proceedings against them because they have submitted false information in their immigration papers, and that it can result in their arrest or deportation. These fraudsters would then demand money to be transferred urgently to a lawyer/consultant’s account saying that this lawyer/consultant has been appointed by Indian Embassy to assist the victim in his legal proceedings. However, to avoid any delay due to bureaucratic procedures, fraudsters will ask the money to be transferred immediately to the account, assuring the victim at the same time that the money will be reimbursed to him/her later by Indian Embassy. It is suspected that these fraudsters are using their hacking skills to access personal details of their targets and to off-guard their victims, they pretend as if they are Indian Embassy staff calling from the Embassy.

The Embassy advises all members of Indian community in Kuwait not to fall prey to such fraudsters’ calls. If any such calls are received by any member of the community, he/she should immediately contact Embassy officials in person (phone numbers are available on the website at http://www.indembkwt.org) so that necessary remedial actions are taken by this Embassy.

The Indian Embassy should have a proper record with the list of all Indians residing in Kuwait from the point of entry. Becouse information about the subjects is the first sign of support which unfortunatly our Embassy does not have.

Thanks for the advice given by Indian Embassy.
As this article is the help rendered by Our National embassy in Kuwait, I would like to indicate a shortcoming which is irritating Indians inside the embassy while accepting affidavits for attestation. The charge is 6 KD 750 fils. The person accepting affidavit wanted exact change from each and every applicant and this amount is enclosed with each application individually. People are running here and there to get exact change. This person is going on announcing 750 fills repeatedly. When anybody is willing to sacrifice 250 fils also, she is not accepting.Somebody responsible in the embassy should see that the public is treated with respect instead of irritating them and wasting time.Public is getting very bad impression about Govt. office even in Kuwait.

Dear friends, The people are using all means to harass and cheat as a means to increase their income to live without proper employment in the nation of Kuwait or back in India. The Indian Embassy should have a proper record with the list of all Indians residing in Kuwait from the point of entry in India. Hope people will be able to live in the nation and support their own dependants children, parents in the family and their relatives.
