Tuesday, June 28, 2016

The Court of Appeals presided over by Judge Ali Diran upheld the verdict issued by the Criminal Court which sentenced the three Indains to death for drug related crime.

In March 2016, the Criminal Court has sentenced four people to death – three Indian men identified as Faisal Mangattuchalil, Mustafa Hameed and Aboobaker, all three from Kerala state, India and the Sri Lankan national Sharika Balasinge – for drug trafficking.

The death penalty to be given for a human being for a murder or attempt to murder.

In all other cases, the maximum penalty could be life term imprisonment.

Drug is purchased and consumed by persons at their own will and wish.
keeping or selling drug is not a forced killing attempt to kill.
