Pathanamthitta District Association's 2016 Onam celebrations, SRAAVANA POURNAMI 2016 will be held on Friday 21st October 2016 as a full day programme from 9 am till 6 pm at Indian Central School Auditorium in Abbassiya.
SRAAVANA POURNAMI 2016 event was formally unravelled with the release of the Event Flier, Raffle and Onam Sadya Coupons on Thursday 30th June at a function held in Hi Dine Auditorium at Abbassiya. The function was presided over by the Association President Mr. Jayakumar. Patron Shri. Oommen George delivered the chief speech in which he exhorted the members to use their good efforts and maintain friendly relations with all for the success of Association’s activities and events. The Welcome Speech and Vote of thanks were rendered by General Secretary Benny Pathanamthitta and Treasurer Charls George respectively. The Event Flier was released by Patron Shri. Oommen George along with Ladies Wing activists Smt. Manju Abu and Smt. Annamma Joseph. The Raffle Coupon was released by Association President Shri. Jayakumar along with Senior Advisory Board Member, Shri. Raju Varghese and the Onam Sadya Coupon was released by General Convener Shri. P.T. Samuelkutty and Cultural Convener Shri. Reghubal. General Convener Shri. P.T. Samuelkutty presented Association’s concept and plans for organizing SRAAVANA POURNAMI 2016.
SRAAVANA POURNAMI 2016 will be a spectacular MEGA EVENT in which top Media personality and Pathanamthitta MLA (Aranmula Assembly Constituency) Smt. Veena George will participate as Chief Guest along with prominent dignitaries in Kuwait. The major feature of the event is GANAMELA led by Malayalam Cinema's top Playback Singer and Melody King Shri. G. Venugopal, which also is embellished by the presence of Malayalam Cinema’s new female singing sensation, Miss. Akhila Anand and the exuberant Film Playback Singer Shri. Abdulrahman who is well-known for his pulsating fast songs. SRAAVANA POURNAMI 2016 will also have cultural programmes portraying the rich cultural tradition of the homeland such as arrival of Mahabali accompanied by band, colorful Thiruvathira dance, enchanting Vanchippattu and other attractive programmes performed by talented local artists. Specially prepared ONAM SADYA will be served for Food Coupon holders during the lunch break of the event.
Pathanamthitta District Association honors every year a top social personality in Kuwait and in the Gulf with “MANAVEEYAM AWARD” who has outstanding record in humanitarian services. The Association uses the occasion of SRAAVANA POURNAMI celebrations to present this Award to the most deserving personality.
At the SRAAVANA POURNAMI 2016 event, the Association will hold drawing and painting competitions for School children and poetry and story writing competitions (in Malayalam language) for expatriates in Kuwait and would present Certificates and Prizes for the successful candidates. VIDYA JYOTHI Awards for excellence in studies is a regular feature of SRAAVANA POURNAMI celebrations and this will be presented to Association members' children who have excelled in their respective field of studies.
