Parliamentarian urges to give 3-day weekend holiday due to the high temperatures

Saturday, July 23, 2016

MP Ahmad Lari has presented a proposal requesting for reducing the number of working hours for employees and increasing the weekends from two days to three due to the high temperatures currently prevalent in Kuwait. In his proposal, he proposed increasing the official weekends to three days — Thursday through Saturday — for all state institutions and government agencies. Four days of serious work, according to parliamentarians, are enough to process people’s transactions. Other benefits of the holiday include a reduction in temperatures because vehicles will not be driven much, and it will also reduce the rate of traveling abroad.

Meanwhile, Al-Rai newspaper reported that giving the day off to public employees when temperatures reach 55 C will lead to reducing financial costs for the government as rise in temperature leads to increased use of electricity.
