Do not curb the right to preach one’s faith under baseless allegations of terrorism

Slapping charges of terrorism on Islamic preachers without any evidence and using it as a pretext to curb the right to preach one’s faith is a transgression of a fundamental right given by the Indian constitution. This was expressed at a discussion forum under the title ‘Terrorism is anti-religion and anti-humanity’ organized by Kuwait Kerala Islahi Center (KKIC) at Abbasiya United Indian School.

Further, the discussion clarified that Islamic scholars have unequivocally condemned terrorism and organizations like ISIS as being against Islam and humanity at large. The social perspective of Islam is that in a pluralistic society Muslims have to cooperate for common welfare, peace and goodness without compromising on Islamic values. Salafists, who lay great emphasis on the unpolluted teachings of Islam, have staunchly opposed any form of terrorism at all times.

Looking upon the strict adherence to prophetic teachings as terrorism is utterly baseless. Regarding the youths who have gone missing from Kerala, we shall leave it to the official investigation agencies to find out the truth behind them and take due action if required instead of conducting media trials and indicting them based on assumptions.

The forum welcomed the comment of the hon. chief minister of Kerala that a community should not be maligned because of the activities of a few misguided individuals. People who believe in secularism and harmonious coexistence should unite against communal forces.

KC Mohammed Najeeb presented the key note at the forum and KKIC President PN Abdul Lateef Madani moderated the discussion.Representatives of various Indian organizations in Kuwait also took part in the forum: Haribala, Ramapuram Bharatiya Pravasi Parishad, Thomas Mathew Kadavil, KALA, Chacko George Kutti, OICC, Praveen Nandilath, Kerala Association, Anees Farouqi, KIG, Basheer Batha, KMCC and Muneer, KKMA,

Secretariat members Shabir Nand and Azhar Atheri, adorned the presidium. KKIC Dawah Secretary Abdul Salam rendered the welcome speech and PR Secretary TP Anwar delivered the vote of thanks.
