More than 100,000 Asian domestic workers hold driving licences

Monday, September 26, 2016

Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Fahd Al-Shuwea.

They obtained the licences before the Ministerial Decree No. 5598/2014, was issued which specifies the categories of professionals who are eligible to obtain the driving licences, he said.

Al-Shuwea said these Asians took advantage of the easy conditions for obtaining drivers’ licenses which are valid for 10 years and then changed their professions and the sponsors. There is no legal justification to withdraw the licences now, he added.

Brothers and sisters

why are we all breaking our heads for nuts, Country has the right to do what is good for them so let them do, its our choice take it or live the country and migrate to another, simple as that

We have forgotten in the past how we came and now how much we achieved back home, be thankful and accept as it comes.

Allah Bless Kuwait

SHAME ON the worst country for expats..!!
a country with over 80% of land area being unused.. no action to expand the develop new areas in order to reduce the concentration of people in the already overcrowded areas.. so much of empty space in the country and everything is still focused on the same few old business & residential areas.. Shuwaikh, Alrai, Jleeb, salmiya, farwaniya, city, sharq.. most people need to reach the same place in the same time.. how do u expect traffic not to increase..?!
So much of space and no expansion plan from govt.. and who gets the blame..?! expats..!!
Good strategy authorities.. u can only play this game for a lil while until the world realizes the strategy !!

Getting drivers licenses and then changing profession or sponsor is a form of cheating and these people don't deserve to continue, more so most of these Domestic drivers drive rashly, do not follow traffic rules, are ignorant of the signals, priorities in T , roundabout, yielding, lanes etc etc. I know a person who failed written test 15 times, this person is Danger to himself and society, if given license.....

If the people are earning by working as per the residense visa within their reasonable capability of health in life, they should be allowed to buy vehicles which will allow more business in the automobile sector. Also, the roads in the nation should be taken care and maintained to allow the flow of traffic with more employment opportunities in many sectors to help the growth in economy of the nation.

All this Asian are not earning 600 kd or 400 kd so how can 100,000 domestic workers get licence. Half of the populations are working as housemaid and drivers does not given them 400 kd. so how is Kuwait so blind to issue so many licence to such people who blocked all traffic in the morning driving big cars which cannot be bought by them.No wonder too much traffic in all areas of Kuwait. It high time to minimize the licence of 100,000 Asian workers. If u really investigate the amount of housemaids in each Kuwaiti house driving cars and the amount of taxi drivers then u may a comparable ratio and taking this into account u can reduce the free residence issued to them Instead of exempting drivers housemaids, school teachers please exempt secretaries. They are not humans to drive or do companies pay 600 kd to get a licence issued whereas the housemaids are lucky in that case. this shd change

Right to Drive a vehicle is a right as similar as right to breathe, walk, talk, work, eat. this fuss of people obtaining driving license as if they are criminals looting away something they do not deserve. morever. the headline and content of this news do not match, content says asians changed the profession, that means they are no longer domestic workers, then how can they say 100 000 domestic workers hold driving license ? absurd !!
