The Indian Badminton Association-Kuwait (IBAK) has successfully conducted their 12th Coaching module which was held between 16 July 16 to 22 Sep 16 to promote the game of badminton and to impart the sporting skills of badminton to youngsters. The module attracted few adults as well who were keen to improve/sharpen their skills of the game of badminton.

It’s a matter of pride to share that IBAK has previously conducted 11 coaching modules successively with more than 750 trainees in the past. The coaching module 12 witnessed more than 90 kids between the ages 6 to 18.The module 12 was conducted by Mr. Ilaya Raja hailing from south India, who will be the permanent resident coach for IBAK. Mr. Ilaya Raja a professional trainer, also an elite badminton player has previously conducted many coaching camps and trained many children in improving their badminton skills in India.

As envisaged by the Chairman of IBAK Dr. Mani Mara Chozhan, IBAK will resume full-fledged training for the advance level children’s throughout the year starting from 2nd week of October 16. The kids will be selected based on their commitments and skill towards the game. The selected children’s will undergo rigorous training including fitness training to emerge as professional player. In addition, separate training module will be conducted for the beginners for a period of 3 months starting from 15th October. The programme will also have provision to include adult players who would like to improve their badminton skills.

As a part of assessment of module 12, a tournament was conducted at the end of the coaching camp during 22nd September comprising of 41 matches and the results are as follows. (Names are listed as winner, runner-up, and semifinalist)

Flight 1 – Dhruva Bharadwaj (winner), Ashwin Jaishankar ( Runner-Up ), Jay Shah (SF) and Samuel ( SF ).

Flight 2 – Mrudhuksha Das ( winner ), Mehvesh (Runner-Up ), Faheema sheik (SF) and Fiona Cabral (SF ).

Flight 3 – Arden Sumesh ( winner ), Addison Sumesh (Runner-Up ), Aadhya Shine (SF) and Jagan (SF ).

Flight 4 – Aman ( winner ), Karl (Runner-Up ), Skandhan Manimara Chozhan(SF) and Mahit (SF ).

Flight 5 – Faith Yufei Mou ( winner ), Advay Pradeep (Runner-Up ), Esther R.M (SF) and Shaza (SF ).

Men’s - Supreet ( winner ), Moh'd sheik (Runner-Up ), Aneesh Mathew (SF) and Bijikesh (SF ).

IBAK coaching team consists of Dr. Manimara Chozhan, Ajay Kumar vasudevan, Ramesh Chandra, Shyam Sadhwani, Mohammed Sirajudeen, Yashin Bose, Prasad, and Sreenivas Sreedhara.
