Kuwaiti court scraps petrol price hike

IIK Staff Reporter Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Kuwaiti court today said the Cabinet decision to increase petrol prices is illegal, since it was issued in violation of the law, but it rejected a request to suspend the increase immediately, which came into effect at the start of this month.

However the increased price will continue in force until further notice. The court rejected another request by them to immediately suspend the increase until the appeals court has issued its verdict in the case. It said that there was no immediate need to suspend the hike decision. The case will now go to the court of appeals and later to the court of cassation, whose decisions are final.

The court cited the procedural flaw in the government’s decision to hike petrol price.

Great !!! Who filed this case in court ?
Do you guys know that all new decisions like rules for obtaining driving licence,
deport for traffic violations, family & visit visa will not be approved by court. Question is who will challenge these decisions in court.
