Kuwait to penalize vehicles impeding traffic flow starting Sunday

KUNA Friday, October 28, 2016

Vehicles found disrupting the flow of traffic will have their registration plates annulled starting on Sunday, the Ministry of Interior's Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Fahad Al-Shuwaiy said on Thursday.

Al-Shuwaiy, who is also Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic, said that after the registration plates have been revoked, violators will be required to pay a fine to retrieve them.
Moreover, Al-Shuwaiy noted that this decision has been made due to a palpable increase in traffic violations, adding that the drivers of these vehicles should be held fully accountable for their infractions.

Speaking on this decision, Al-Shuwaiy said that it would prove instrumental to remedying misconduct on the road, while further reinforcing the rule of law and easing traffic congestion.
He added that all areas with impeded traffic flows have been pinpointed to help fix the problem.

Meanwhile, he said that all roads are under continuous surveillance as a measure to bring all plans and goals as it relates to traffic laws, to fruition.

The MoI official also urged citizens and expatriates alike to abide by traffic rules for their own safety.

MOI has to get stricter with people parking on roads and impeding traffic. At any given time in Abbasiya thousands of cars are parked right on the road, creating caos confusion and danger to passerby and children, with utter carelessness.

Why only Arabic school? Did you see the Indian schools. Parents are so lazy, they are on the mobiles, park their car at the gate and expect the maids to come pick up their children! What about the restaurants in salmiya. A2B.. Check it out!

Good move. But I urge the MOI officers to please visit the Arraya Tower (Sharq) roundabout between 3.30 PM to 5.00PM and witness the jams caused by the vehicles parked on the single road connecting the exit of the Arraya tower car park. It is a nightmare everyday to get out of the parking building and reach the signal at Khalijia building. At times it takes nearly half an hour to commute this small stretch, which is not even 100 mts. Many cars are parked on both sides of the road, making the road into a virtual one way causing a huge traffic jams. I request MOI officers to visit this place @ 3.45PM to witness themselves and resolve the traffic problems faced by the commuters.

This must be a joke.

If you go close to any Arabic school in the mornings & evenings, it's 100% Kuwaitis, that block the road.

Will see how many are booked ???
