The Indian Dentists

The Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait celebrated its 10th anniversary on the 9th of December 2016 at the Maha Ballroom of the Regency Hotel, in a setting that brought touches of India to Kuwait. The Indian dentists and their families were resplendent in their formal Indian attires and under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, welcomed the Kuwaiti dignitaries and guests from the Health Sector, principals of local schools, officials of other Indian Associations in Kuwait, sponsors and other guests. The Asst. Undersecretary (Dental Affairs) Dr. Yousef Al Duwairy, released the Oral Health Guide Vol.5, titled “Lifestyle and Oral Health” on this occasion. The guide which will be made available to schools, clinics and other establishments in Kuwait, focuses on dental diseases that affect people at various stages of life in relation to their lifestyle and advice on how to prevent and manage them. It has articles written in both English and Arabic and therefore could reach out to and be useful for, a wider section of the local community. A coffee table style book of photographs which chronicles the various events of IDAK over the past 10 years was also released during this celebratory evening. The evening was attended by Dr. Sabiha Al Mutawa, Dr. Adel Ayed, Dr. Jawad Behbehani, Dr. Pramod Soparkar, Dr. Sami Al Manea & our platinum sponsor Advanced Technology Company (ATC) amongst others.

The highlight of the evening was the presence of Padma Bhushan Prof. B. M. Hegde, former Vice Chancellor of Manipal University. The doyen of holistic medicine whose oratory skills are legendary, offered simple tips to stay fit and healthy. He held the audience captive during his keynote address. The second part of this evening was the cultural show titled ‘Reflect10nz 2016’, where the dentists and their families put on face paint and costumes to bring vibrancy to the stage. In a variety of Indian dances, they proved to their audience that they are multi-faceted – as choreographers, dancers, stylists, make-up artists, costume designers, and stage decorators. Many in the audience could not believe that those hands that give anaesthesia injections, do root canal treatments, perform surgeries, place crowns and braces could also set the stage on fire. The dentists were ably supported by their equally talented spouses and children. The evening ended with a grand gala dinner.
