Kuwait Pavendar Kazhagam celebrated its 51st Kalam as a PONGAL special programme on 06.01.2017 at Pavendar Arangam, MANGAF. The programme was anchored by Mrs. Priya Kannan (Public Relations Secretary). The event was inaugurated with lighting of Kuthuvilakku followed by Thamizh Thai Vazhthu, both were done by our women wing.
The programme was presided over by Engr.B.Muruganandham (Process Safety Auditor). Shri.Balusamy (Proprietor, DAT Transport) and Shri.Madhivanan (President, Tamil Art Gallery) were the chief guests.
The Chief Guests were introduced to audience by Mr. K. Natarajan, Vice-President, Pavendar Kazhagam.
On stage events started colorfully on one side, the other side, lady members started cooking pongal in the traditional clay pot. Both Ven Pongal and Sarkarai Pongal were cooked in the meeting hall itself. When the milk in the pot was overflowed everyone cheered as “Pongalo Pongal” and greeted each other with New Year and Pongal wishes. Pavendar Kazhagam, Kuwait on that day created a beautiful ambience like we were in our home town, celebrating our traditional Thamizhar Thirunaal with our own family and friends.
PVKK Kalappaadal was sung by Mrs.Manjula and one Thirkkural was beautifully elucidated by our executive member Mrs.Sudha Balaji under the title “Kuralodu Uravadu”.
Mrs.Kayalvizhi narrated one story with a nice moral in an interesting manner under the title “Kathaikelu Kaniyagu”.
The event under title “KalaththuMedu” was performed by PVKK Children members. Selvan R.Vishwesh Balaji, along with Thiru.C.Sivamani (Custodian Committee Member) performed a comedy show, which was a blast. Selvi P.Dhanusri, Selvi K. Nikishasri & Selvan. Nithinkrish performed a dance which was a treat. Selvan Srivatsan gave a speech about Thamizhar Thirunaal, which was excellent. Children’s performances of comedy show, dance and speech were well appreciated by the Chief Guests, audience and members.
Poets, Mr. Swami Kanmani recite a beautiful poem on the topic “Thamizhar Thirunaal”, under the title “Kavidhai Siragu”.
A “Karutharangam” was organized with a title “Dharani Potrum Thamizhar Thirunaal” under the leadership of Tamil Pulavar Thiru. Vasu Ramanathan. Mrs. Umadevi Raveendran (Treasurer) gave an enthralling speech on “Thai Thirunaal”. Thiru.C.Sivamani gave an eminent speech about “Maattu Pongal”. Mr.Padmanathan (Executive Member) gave an outstanding speech on “Kaanum Pongal”.
2017 New Year calendar was released by our chief guest Mr. Muruganandam. Then our office bearers distributed the calendars to our special invitees, well-wishers and to the audience.

The Chief Guests appreciated all the events performed in the programme, which were organized by the office-bearers of Pavendar Kazhagam. During his speech, The Chief Guest mentioned that events were extraordinary, educative and delightful to watch. Furthermore he added that events were meticulously structured to educate audience with amusement.
Thiru.M.Abuthahir (President), on his thanks-giving address, thanked our chief guests, well-wishers, all our members and the audience who have come over to the function and made that as a grand event.
The lunch was served in our traditional manner as “Thalaivazhai ilai virundhu” which was sponsored by Thiru.M.Abuthahir & family and by Thiru.S. Raveendran & family.
The event was concluded with national anthem sung by PVKK Members.
