National Assembly approves increasing medical charges on expats

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

The Parliament’s Legal and Legislative Committee yesterday approved a proposals to raise medical charges on expatriates and to amend the conditions of the existing health insurance on foreigners.

The decision will now go to the assembly’s health and labor committee to work out the details of the proposals in cooperation with the Health Ministry which has already announced plans to increase medical charges on expatriates from the middle of next month. The legal committee’s decision found the proposals in line with the constitution and the law.

One of the proposals call to impose mandatory health insurance on expatriates coming to Kuwait on visit visas after it was noticed that many expatriates, especially the elderly, visit Kuwait only to enjoy the almost free medical services.

Can people enjoy medical facility. My family couldn't`t consult doctor without civil ID.

And wealthy people wont go to hospital. Only people with less income go there. Also why we need to pay health insurance.

The Ministry of Health facilities are for the citizens and residents of Kuwait. Pls make it mandatory for the visitors that health facilities are available at the private clinics and hospitals only. Why increase fees when the govt is already collecting insurance from the expatriate residents.?

Let them approve all sort of charges/taxes, fines etc etc....
Soon their dreams come true to make Kuwait EXPAT FREE country.
How amazing it will be for citizens to work as sweepers in street, maids in houses, mechanic in garages, construction workers in very hot/cold weather..... and list is endless.
May God fulfill their wish soon to make Kuwait EXPAT FREE.

The fact, mandatory medical fees for people coming on visit visas was a must. People were abusing the system which was meant for residents
