What man can hope to attain,
Something against natural order?
It is but a punishing dream of pain,
One dressed in glitter and gold.
What is wrong with being flawless?
It is only a challenge made to push.
But many fall headfirst into stress,
Keeping up their mask of excellence.
To hide one's imperfections in fear,
Reject the uniqueness of their being.
To society's restrictions they adhere,
Crumbling inside though standing tall.
When did our standard become perfection?
An impossible toll we ask from all around.
When did it stop being a feat of admiration?
Pushing people beyond bearable limits.
Accept your individuality, let it free,
And bear not society's disapproval.
You are your own, no other you can be.
And let anyone never tell you otherwise.
Strive for the noble goal if you will,
But do not let it push you too far.
All things taken beyond limits only kill,
Even an aim as worthy as this.
Learn from failures, to later evade,
Shaping one into a greater being.
To be perfect is a sharp blade,
But never sacrifice individuality.
And at the end of it all,
What is perfection?
An unclimbable wall,
Unattainable in its nature.
