The interior ministry's residency affairs directorate plans to make it mandatory for both parents to be living in Kuwait with valid residency visas to renew their children's residency visas, local dailies reported.

According to report, female doctors and teachers are exempted from this rule and allowed to sponsor their children without the presence of their husbands in Kuwait.

They explained that in case an expat divorces his wife, she will not have her residency renewed if she is in Kuwait and will not be allowed into Kuwait if she is abroad.

RL Thursday, November 16, 2017 Hi Good Day..I want to know also if the mother can sponsor her daughter's visa even if the father is still in Kuwait? We are legally married but not legally separated and we are not together anymore.. Is it possible for me to put under my name for my daughter's residency? Please advise...thank you.

Sa Sunday, February 26, 2017 @A, This is not a new rule. One year back my friend went to renew his daughter residence when his wife was on holidays and went to India. They refused to renew the residence and told him that can't renew while the mother not in Kuwait. They give a month extension and daughter's residence was renewed only his wife return to Kuwait. So this rule was there. .
A Thursday, February 23, 2017 @SA for your information this is a new rule for both parents to be present in kuwait. Asking for the wife's civil id is a different thing, one can always have a copy of it. Both should be present in kuwait is a different matter altogether.

Sa Wednesday, February 22, 2017 This is not a new rule. The present rule is the same. Don't know from where such news are coming which only make panic among the expats. They always ask for mother civil ID copy for renewing residence. Similar news was spread last week that family visa can't be transfer to job visa. There is no decision from ministry.
