Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) in association with the Kuwait Dental Association (KDA) conducted a Study Club on the theme “Digital Dentistry Update,” from 2pm to 6pm, on January 27th, 2017. This study club was organized in the lecture hall of Kuwait Dental Association in Jabriya, Kuwait. More than 120 dentists attended this event.

The Study Club included 4 lectures by eminent doctors on different topics on the theme of Digital Dentistry.

The event started with a lecture by Dr. Saurabh S. Chandra, Endodontist at Al Salam International Hospital, Kuwait, on “Digitalizing Dentistry: CAD/CAM.” This was followed by a lecture by Dr. Indeevar Avnoor, Consultant Orthodontist at Al Soor Dental Clinic, Mahboula on “3D Printing: An Introduction.” The third lecture of the afternoon was conducted by Dr. Sherry Peter, Lead Consultant in Cranio-Maxillofacial surgery in Aster Medcity, Ernakulam, India through live videoconferencing from India. The topic was “Applications of 3D Printing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.” The final presentation of the day was on “Cone Beam Computed Tomography: Introduction and Applications,” by Dr Aref Ghayyath, Director of Clinics at the Kuwait University Dental Center, in Jabriya.

There were two unique aspects of this study club. The first one was that this was the first time that a doctor from outside the Indian community had been invited to give a lecture at an IDAK Study Club. The second unique feature was that this was the first time that a lecture in an IDAK Study Club was conducted through live video conferencing from outside Kuwait.
