A Sitar concert will be organized at Yarmouk Cultural Centre - Dar al Athar al Islamiyyah on March 15, 2017. Concert is sponsored by Dar AL Athar Al Islammiya.
The concert is from 7 PM to 8 PM . Auditorium doors will be open at 6.40 pm.

Maestro Purbayan Chatterjee (Sitar)
Purbayan has established himself as one of the brightest stars of the younger generation of Indian classical musicians. He belongs to the Senia Maihar Gharana founded by Ustad Allauddin Khan and he carries the rich legacy of the great sitar maestro Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. He is noted for amalgamating traditional Indian classical music with contemporary world music genres. He has collaborated with musicians like Pat Metheny, Shankar Mahadevan and received awards like Presidents Award, Aditya Vikram Birla Kala Kiran, Sangeet Samman (West Bengal Govt). He's also had the rare opportunity of playing with Ustad Zakir Hussain on many occasions.
Maestro Satyajit Talwalkar (Tabla)
Satyajit Talwalkar is the son of tabla legend Pandit Suresh Talwalkar and Padma Talwalkar, two of the best-known practitioners of Indian classical music. Right from a very young age, Satyajit received immaculate attention and training from his parents in various aspects of Indian classical music. But his interest in percussion was nurtured by his father, one of the most revered teacher and practitioner of the art of tabla playing. In following his father’s footsteps, Satyajit has become a masterful accompanist to instrumental and vocal music. But he is also recognized as a solo artist, and is at ease in performing as a member of taal vadya kacheri (ensemble of Indian percussionists) and his duets with Western drum ensemble have received critical acclaim.
He has accompanied major Hindustani artists including Pt hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan,Ustad Rashid Khan (vocal), Ustad Shaheed Parvez (sitar) and has performed all over India. He has also been on concert tours of France, Netherlands, USA, and several countries of South Asia.
