Stringent measures againts begging in Kuwait

Stringent punitive measures shall be taken against people – individuals, companies or institutions who sponsor people and leave them on the streets of Kuwait for begging for alms.

Local Arabic newspaper Al-Rai daily, quoting Director-General of the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at the Interior Ministry Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash, reported that it is disturbing to see some children are begging for alms pretending to be Syrian refugees.

Ministry of Interior will spare no efforts to address not only security issues but also social which fall within the ministry’s priorities, particularly since the phenomenon of begging harms the civilized face of the country.

He added those caught begging will be immediately deported in accordance with Article (16) of the Foreigners Act.
