Indian Educational School’s Amazing Award Nite

May 18, 2017 was a day which was etched in the heart of every Bhavanite, but the impression was incised in different ways with different tools of mind. For a proven elite lot, it was a day to be euphorically impressed in the heart, but for a many lot it was a day to be carved in the heart with the tools of determination and grit, for they just need to prove to be in the elite league when the call comes.

‘The Award Nite’, a function of blue ribbon organized by Indian Educational School, (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) Kuwait to acknowledge and appreciate the achievements of the ‘smart working’ students of IES made the day of May 19, 2017 to be cherished and remembered by all the Bhavanites.

The sterling evening was honored by the gracious presence of the guest of honor Mr. Sibi U.S, the Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Kuwait. Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman Bhavans Middle East, Mr. T. Premkumar, the principal, Indian Educational School, Kuwait, Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the principal Smart Indian School Kuwait, Mrs. Rathi Raveendran, the principal, Jack & Jill, Kuwait, vice principals and the chief administrators of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait.

The evening of accolades started with a soul-soothing verse from the Holy Quran followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The evening of encomium was unfurled with the prayer song and the school anthem rendered by the school choir. The ceremonial lamp was then conjointly lit by the guest of honor Mr. Sibi U. S, Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, Mr. T. Premkumar and Mr. Mahesh Iyer.

The blessed gathering was welcomed by Miss. Alana Ann Prakash, the deputy head girl, Indian Educational School, Kuwait. The memento of love, respect and appreciation was extended to the chief guest by the chairman and the principals.

It was the time for the awardees to be honored and felicitated. The crème de la crème of Indian Educational School, seven child prodigies were presented with the scholar blazers, a token of appreciation for scoring the cumulative A1 in all subjects for three successive years, an extraordinary feat indeed. Thirty-One students who received appreciation and recognition for their outstanding performance, securing the highest grade in their respective classes in the primary wing, and a cumulative grade of A1 in all subjects for middle and senior wing were beaming like twinkling stars fallen on the dais. Two promising speakers and Four Math Wizards from the primary school, who have proven their mettle time and again, were awarded ‘medals of honor and recognition’. A total of Two Hundred and Twelve students were bestowed upon the awards of proficiency for their all-round ability in striking a phenomenal balance between academics and co-curricular activities. The highlight of the night was the recipient of The Principal of the Principal Award. The auditorium reverberated with roaring applause as Mr. T. Premkumar, the principal IES received the award from Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, the chairman, Bhavans Middle East for his continuous support and encouragement which stands testimony to the stupendous efforts of the Math faculty and the massive participation coupled with the superb scores in the National Math Olympiad. This manifests how much the captain is loved and respected by the student, teacher and parent communities alike.

The chief guest, Mr. Sibi U.S, addressed the gathering with the famous quote of Swami Vivekananda, “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in men.” Mr. Sibi stressed on the need for one to dream and chase the dream till it is achieved. He reminded everyone of the importance of determination and perseverance in our doings. He also emphasized the importance of the roles of teachers and parents in the lives of children, and reminiscently added that school life is the best and most beautiful phase in anyone’s life. He extolled the harmonious conglomeration of parents, teachers and students on one platform that he observed as unique to Bhavans.

The Award Nite was not even a tad less than any cultural extravaganza when the talented Tinsa Biju rendered a mellifluous Hindi bhajan and Diya Merin and Mrs. Shruthi (Faculty, Bhavans Rhythmscapes) danced gracefully in the pure Indian classical elegance and enthralled the audience with their flair and charm.

The evening of commendation ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Master Shiv Govind Dahima, the cultural secretary, IES Kuwait and the singing of the Indian National Anthem. The emcees for the day were Aliya Sageer and Amrita Menon who were also instrumental in letting the evening leave a lasting impression in many jubilant and resolute hearts.
