Kuwait turns down India's request for temple and crematorium

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Kuwait has turned down a request by the Indian Embassy for granting a suitable place for setting up an Indian temple and an electrical crematorium for the Indian community.

The request was made for the benefit of the large number of Indian Hindu community in Kuwait.

In response to a note from the Indian Embassy on 4 June, 2017, requesting the space, Kuwait Foreign Ministry’s Asia Affairs Department, through its letter dated 6 July, 2017, said it regretted not being able to comply with the request as it was found to be incompatible with the laws of the State of Kuwait.

The world is still backward when it comes to these kind of things. I mean what is the use of a temple? It is a mere structure build by humans, then keep some kind of an idol it it which is also made by humans and consider it as God?. You have to believe and pray from within. No one in this world can stop anyone from doing that. And nothing physical is needed for that. No one needs to show his prayers. Frankly, even if a temple was built here in Kuwait, I would have considered it as useless since you can build these kind of structures anywhere. We need to rise from our old ways of thinking and be true humans by showing kindness and love towards people. Instead of wasting money on building a temple, use it to feed poor and needy. Serving the humanity and helping others is the best prayer and worship.

First of all, with no insults to any religion perse, Arab countries used to do idol worship before Prophet Mohammed(p.b.u..h) preached to all humans directed by Allah to stop the pagan worship of idols. If you read authentic Hindu scriptures, idol worship is not allowed. Now you cant move backward, Islam showed Arabs way forward that one should not believe or make idols and worship. So Kuwait is correct also I dont understand why there is big hue and cry over temples. In India, citizens are of different religions like Hindus,Muslims,Christians,Sikhs,Parsis,Jains etc. However only Hindu religion gets more weightage. If you dont believe me, visit Vashi in Navi Mumbai where thousands of Muslims live however there is only one masjid whereas there are numerous Hindu temples, So one can see pure discrimination. In Kuwait there are no Hindu citizens, we are here to earn money, so earn money and move out.If one doesnt like the culture here, you are free to move out.

@Manoj Kumar
..BUT if you are caught 'playing' in your own flat during prayer time, then 'they' have the freedom to catch you red handed in your own flat ))

As there are no Hindu citizens by birth here holding kuwait passport perhaps this can be the reason . In USA people are citizens that's why it is allowed there .

We are large Indians and a minority Hindus in this Islam Muslim region . I have roamed to all middle east places and there is no temple nor any crematorium but yes hindus make a small gathering in their interior far away house/flats /villas from the city area and make their prayer/puja . It is good Indian embassy approached but sure the answer got as NO , however we are in the foreign land coming here to work and must respect the Muslim religion .
It is heartening to see that India is also one of the listed Terrorist act attack countries in the world which is going external and more internal in our country . See how much unnecessary these Hindus fanatics superamo hit,kill and hammer the innocent other minorites because of this Damm Gau Raksha '' something funny which is treated as sacred animal " whereas the Human being are treated as animal to kill ... which should have actually been opposite for food to humans
Therefore the world is watching '''''

Constitution here is mostly complianced with Shari'a even if not in all strict terms as Saudi, it may have difficulties to allow worships idols.
No other reasons.

Agreed with Kuwait government. Why we need a temple in Kuwait. If you want to pray our god , you can make it in your flat and pray. But request government not to catch us for praying in our own flat. We have freedom in our country to pray.

As expected. But appreciate the Indian embassy for trying their best. Hindus being a minority (small portion) in Kuwait would have been so happy if this was granted. But we need to keep on trying hoping one day the mindset/outlook would change. There is place for all religions in this world to live in harmony. In U.S., I have seen a mosque, synagogue, gurdwara, temple in close proxmity and people living happily. UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Malaysia all muslim countries but have hindu temples and there are numerous in Malaysia. In fact many countries. Its the mindset, outlook that matters.
