Teachers’ Day Celebration at Bhavans

“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much a necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.”

A teacher plays a great role in the lives of students. Teachers of Bhavans hold a very special position in the hearts of their students and their relationship is one which is much talked about by the public.

This year, the Supreme Council of Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) Kuwait, celebrated the Teachers’ Day on September 7, 2017. The day commenced with students of grades 10, 11 and 12 volunteering to be student-teachers giving the teachers a day-off by engaging the children of grades 1 to 10 let their creativity reach limitless skies in an event appropriate poster making contest.

The main event unfurled right after the dispersal at 12 noon. The teachers were led to the main hall whilst stepping on a magnificently laid out red carpet, and were welcomed by a live band performance. The cultural program commenced with a touching video dedicated by the former students, close companions and relatives of the captain of the ship, the Principal, Mr. T. Premkumar as a tribute to his accomplishment of being the recipient of the CBSE Teachers’ Award 2016.

The auditorium reverberated with thunderous applause when the principal’s brother, sister-in-law, students he taught in grades 5 to 12 (now renowned doctors and teachers in various parts of the globe) and his friends felicitated him much to his surprise. It was the celebration of the best teacher with whom the students had associated for over 7 years at IES. Harshini and Malavika of grades 11 and 12 fascinated the audience with their energetic dance performances. Harichandana and Devinandana of grade 8 stunned the crowd with their unbelievable magic show. Neorah of class 9 and the girls of class 11 C soothed them by singing melodious songs. Students of class 11 danced to the beats of The Golden Era of Indian music. Students of grade 12 performed a stupefying band performance.

The students took great effort and ensured that their teachers enjoyed every minute of the program. A variety of fun filled games was also organized for the teachers. They celebrated the day by presenting flowers, cards and sweets to their teachers, all filled with the warmth of their affection.

The program ended with a scintillating dramatic performance of the Student Supreme Council members. The realistic portrayal of the journey of a teacher from the B.Ed. days to the harsh realities in the workplaces moistened many an eye.

The teachers were also presented gifts by the Management and they left the auditorium amazed and refreshed carrying appreciation and gratitude in their hearts for their students’ timely tribute to the noblest profession in the world.
