Bhavan’s Kg Celebrated Chocolate Day

Celebrations are social gatherings that form the basic essence of life, without which life becomes boring and meaningless. Some celebrations can be light and sweet and one such is Chocolate Day.

Chocolate is loved by people from all corners of the world. It is not only a great stress buster and a mood lifter but is also good for health.

Chocolates are the powerhouse of antioxidants which serves to delay aging and age-related chronic diseases. There are chocolates that are made in a way that they can be taken as snacks for good health too.

The need to educate little children on the health benefits and joys of indulging in chocolates goes without saying. The chocoholic kindergarteners of Indian Educational School and Jack & Jill Mangaf celebrated Chocolate Day on September 14th, 2017 in a scrumptious way.

Initial learning comes from what children see. The bulletin board of the kindergarten wing was adorned with a myriad of chocolate brands and confectionaries made from chocolate wrappers to clay models to painted images and Paper Mache.

The children came dressed in shades of brown, cream, beige and white showcasing different flavors of chocolates like white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate and so on.

Narrating stories is the prerequisite to imparting knowledge. Through stories, the tiny tots learned that chocolates are made of milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. They learned about the health benefits of eating chocolates but in moderation, as excess can cause tooth decay. Through videos and presentations, they learned that chocolates are made from coco beans, which when processed in the factory bring out varieties of chocolates.

The LKG children did crayon colouring activity on the picture of a candy whereas the UKG children went one step ahead and did vegetable printing on the candy as part of the EVS curriculum on vegetables for the week as well as chocolate cookie colouring. They also got an opportunity to exercise their fine motor skills through a ‘snip a candy’snipping activity. With the candy picture, each child made a beautiful takeaway card.

Some of the kinder orators spoke a few lines on why they love chocolates.

They enjoyed the ‘Make and Eat’ activity, where fruits, nuts, flakes or breadsticks of their choice dipped in chocolate sauce, was devoured in no time.

The tiny tots posed elegantly in front of the bulletin board gifting a candied souvenir of their Chocolate Day.

The joy of celebrating Chocolate Day with their classmates was seen on the gleaming faces as the tiny tots bid goodbye for the day with blissful memories!
