Konni Nivasi Sangamam Celebrated Onam 2017

Konni Nivasi Sangamam celebrated Onam on 29th September 2017 from 10.0 am to 4.0 pm at Hi Dine Auditorium, Abbassiya with vivid programs.

Programs started with various cultural events, viz., a dance - Devisthuthi - performed by Sandra Suraj Varghese, a Sanskrit poem recited by Mr. Anadaraj, cinematic dances performed by (1) Hanna & Hence, (2) Jesna Mariam Reji & Anugraha Ashok, (3) Austin & Albin, thiruvathira & kolkali performed by Pranav, comedy skit & fusion dance performed by Helpline Welfare Association and musical extravaganza performed by Friends of Kuwait were staged as part of the program.

Maveli Thampuran was welcomed with traditional Thalapoli & Chendamelam. The floral decoration "Onapookkalam' garnished by our lady representatives were impressive and remarkable. Sumptuous “Onasadya” was served in the traditional plantain leaf which was relished by one and all.

The public function started with Kuwait National Anthem followed by homage paid to late Mr. Stanly John - KNS member who died recently in a road accident and further followed
by prayer song sung by Mrs. Jisa Philip. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Samkutty George - KNS President. Mr. George Varghese - KNS General Secretary welcomed the audience. Official inauguration done by lighting the traditional lamp ‘Bhadradeepam’ jointly by Fr. Shaji Joshua, Samkutty George, KK Ramachandran, Babujee Bathery, Shibu Thundiyil, Bobin Abraham & George Varghese. Onam messages were delivered by Mr. KK Ramachandran - KNS Patron, Mr. Babujee Bathery - Thanima Hard Core Member, Mr. Shibu Thundiyil - Ranni Pravasi Sangham President, Mr. Mathai Varghese - KNS Vice President & Rev. Fr. Shaji P Joshua - Vicar St. Basil Indian Orthodox Church. A group song sung by Melwin Vino & Melissa and Indian National Anthem sung by Manna Mathai, Sandra Suraj & Saira Suraj were fabulous. A suitable farewell was given to Rev. Fr. Shaji P Joshua - KNS member in the meeting. Memento was presented to him unitedly by Mr. Prasad Koshy - KNS Co-Patron & Mr. Mohan Muruppel - KNS Advisory Board Chairman. Vote of thanks was rendered by Mr. Varghese Mathew - KNS Treasurer.

The food sale which included several home-made delicious food items conducted by our lady’s wing escorted by Mrs. Shobha Koshy was a tremendous and victorious effort.

A number of portraits sketched and donated to KNS by Mrs. Lizzy Mathai (KNS member) were auctioned during the function. KNS express herewith our gratitude for these magnificent gifts and appreciate her talents.

Various committees worked hard for the success of the program under the guidance of Mr. George Varghese - KNS General Secretary & Mr. Bobin Abrahm - General Convener. Programs were coordinated by Mr. Rajan P. George - Program Convener & KNS PRO and well compared by Mrs. Sneha Susan - KNS Secretary.

It was a colorful and memorable day.
