Sunday, November 12, 2017

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 has struck Iraq, about 64 miles (103km) southeast of the city of As-Sulaymaniyah, near to the Iraq-Iran border, the US Geological Survey has said.

It initially said the quake was of a magnitude 7.2, before revising it to 7.3.

Meanwhile An aftershock measuring between 4-5 degrees on richter scale hit Kuwait on Sunday as a result of a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Iran-Iraq borders, Kuwait National Seismic Network said.

The earthquake epicenter was 200 kilometers northeast of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, KNSN said in a statement to KUNA.

Kuwait is located in safe zone as per seismic activity inside earth. We have earth quake prone areas surrounding us like, Irag-Iran, Turkey etc. There is very less likelihood of major earth quake striking Kuwait due to this favorable position. So aftershocks as what was felt yesterday can happen but hopefully won't cause any remarkable damage to life or property. Having said all these from scientific side, with all respect to mother nature, nothing is predictable in nature and I pray to almighty for safety of all of us. God bless.

Rumors and panic are two worst things at the time of natural calamity.

Only the cats, dogs and bird can detect the tremors from the beginning (hours before they show strange behavior, search Google). if we are taped at the epic center of the earth quake, there is no were that you can run. As far as Kuwait was concerned, we had only the after shock, nothing serious, and we could run out for safety.
