As the festival of lights 'Deepavali' is round the corner, Buntara Sangha Kuwait held its Deepavali celebration with great splendor on Friday October 20 at Indian Community School Senior Girls, Salmiya, under the leadership of President Yadunath Alva Adyapaadi.

Bunt members in large numbers participated enthusiastically in the day long event and savored the manner in which the various competitions and cultural programme were organized by the cultural secretary, Jayasheela Shetty.

The morning’s programme included Flower Rangoli competition, Diwali Sweet and Snack presentation in Banana leaf competition, “Mundas”( Tulunadu Traditional head gear) tying competition, Fancy dress and colouring completion for children and “Best Talent” competition for the teenagers.

The air was filled with radiance. The beautiful decor of the venue by the PR team members was very eye-catching. Diwali being the theme marked the occasion and created an ambience of festivity. The diyas, flowers and lanterns that formed the core of the theme throughout the venue, the aroma of Deepvali special Addye prepared by Bunt ladies participating in competition, the vibrant and colorful flower Rangoli prepared by the competitors made the event look magical. The audience was mesmerized by the skills of the competitors.

The stage events began with the lighting of traditional “Deepa” by managing committee and ex-presidents and a prayer song by Buntara Sangha Members. President Yadunath Alva, welcomed the audience and thanked the Kuwait Bunts for their whole-hearted participation and attendance at the event in large numbers. This was followed by nearly two hours stage programme which was a combination of dance, solo songs, fancy dress, and many other cultural events. Special attraction was “ Porluda Bale” the display of the video clips of cute toddlers in action. The audience cheered and applauded each performance on stage.

The delicious Deepavali special lunch was served by Avanti palace restaurant. Post lunch events included the melodious musical orchestra which included popular Hindi, Kannada and Tulu songs by very well-known local troupe “ Elanza Musical group” and also by talented singers from Sangha. The programme was beautifully compered by Devi Prasad Rai & Rashmitha Praveen Shetty.
The energy took on many forms in the evening, as colorful saris and traditional dress collided to Gharba music and dandya dance. The sound of rhythmic steps mingled with the cheerful shouts by the audience.

In the concluding session, the prize distribution was done for the winners of the respective competitions and the felicitation of Judges for the day. General secretary Praveen Kumar Shetty offered the vote of thanks to the participants, judges, and all the committee members and volunteers who worked hard to make the programme a grand success.
