Friday, November 17, 2017

General Traffic Department (GTD) has suspended the implementation of impouningd vehicles if the driver and front seat passenger are not wearing seat belts or if the driver is using mobile phone by hand while driving, local media reported.

The officials suspended the decision after 24 hours of implementing this. according to report, more than 1,000 cars of citizen and expatrites were impounded in the first 24 hours.

Large number of Citizens including some parliament members expressed their disappointment over the enthusiasm to impound cars for the above mentioned violations, while reckless drivers keep on having races on the roads but it seems the concerned authorities are not keen on tracking them down. Several citizens and expatriates had to resort to car rental offices on the first day after their cars was impounded.

According to Al Anbaa daily, motorists committing these two violations will get a regular fine as it was in the past. Vehicles that were impounded for these violations on the first day of the decision’s application will be returned from Sunday.

I think it's not good move in my view it's was reversed because local people felt the heat and got angry on authority as most of the violation by them only anything against expats will not be reversed or reviewed I think this campaign should have continued
